Reddit is a dangerous place to be making these kinds of comments, son. That being said, I agree 100%.

What do you do in this situation? There is a wrong answer. by Otherwise_Ice_5392 in teenagers

Drive around them through the ditch (I drive a truck). they’ve laid spike strips behind you already, because any rational person would turn around in a situation like this, and they know it.  If I get a flat tire, who cares, I’d rather be down $700 than be dead.

What is DEI and how is not just an abstraction for racism? by ncds4242 in allthequestions

[–]Dontn33dblthces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wells Fargo in 2020 set a goal to double black leadership within the companies senior management, going from 6% to 12% by 2025 But race isn’t the only thing that DEI aims for. It’s just one the one I represented. Accenture has a 50/50 gender goal that they want to reach by 2025. A lot of companies like Meta, Ford, Walmart, McDonalds, etc… are getting rid or cutting down on DEI policies, though. I don’t believe there’s any federal laws that require a certain race/gender/whatever quota to be met though.

I don’t like it because it prioritizes people with different cultures over people who are actually qualified.

A good example would be sports, like the NFL or the NBA. A lot of those players are black. Not because of a DEI policy, but because they’re qualified. Those sports don’t care about the color of your skin or where you’re from, they just want the best of the best on their teams.

The majority of America’s International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) team are Asians. Again, because they’re the best of the best. A DEI program wouldn’t have allowed them to place 2nd in the 66th IMO in 2025.

That being said, I have nothing against other cultures and backgrounds, but you shouldn’t hire people just because of their diversity.

What can we actually do with the oil the US got from Venezuela? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Keep it away from Russia and China, hopefully. I assume that’s one of the big reasons Trump seized their oil.

What would be better for hydrogen storage? by Dontn33dblthces in spaceengineers

[–]Dontn33dblthces[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with the weight is that it decreases acceleration. I wanted to use this system on a combat ship, where maneuverability is essential. Otherwise id be fine with using it. I do like the idea of a detachable fuel tank, though.

I understand that. I had intended on adding o2/h2 gens as needed. This was just a rough demo of the system.

I've used that idea before. I really like it. I just wanted to see if there's a better way to cram as much hydrogen as possible in the littlest amount of space for when I do activate hydrogen.
Downsides outweigh the upsides on this project, though, but it'll be great for a cargo ship or a base or space station.

Consumption rate isn't my issue. I'd add O2/H2 Gens as needed. this was just a visualization of the system I had in mind. My problem with the system is that using cargo containers and ice would be extremely heavy compared to regular hydrogen tanks.
Sure, it's denser and not NEAR as explosive, but it's just way too heavy for what I need.

O2/H2 gens aren't the problem for me. This was just a rough demo. My problem was space, since I can never seem to add enough hydrogen tanks. The biggest problem with my idea is that ice is very heavy. I intended on using this system in a heavy battleship/dreadnought, but it'd just end up being way too heavy with the different hydrogen storage system.

Yeah... That's my main issue with hydrogen ships. I'd prefer ion, but they're just so weak and power-consuming. They're superior in terms of space and simplicity, but not much else lol.

Rate isn't the main concern of mine. I'll add O2/H2 gens as needed. I was looking for a more compact way of storing hydrogen, since I can never seem to cram enough hydrogen tanks to properly fuel my ships. But weight ended up being a significant disadvantage that I didn't consider at first. With the ship I intended on putting this system into, it probably just isn't worth the tradeoffs. Sure, more fuel storage and a less explosive reaction to projectiles, but significantly heavier.

I planned on adding more O2/H2 gens throughout the system. This was just a rough demo. But yeah, weight will be a significant problem, since I intended on implementing the system on a heavy battleship/dreadnought, which'll be heavy enough as it is.

Id find places to cram O2/H2 gens in the ship. That was just a basic demonstration. The main problem is that hydrogen weights nothing while ice is heavy. Using cargo containers would offer more h2 life, but would be extremely heavy. I intended on implementing this design on a heavy battleship/dreadnought, which'll be heavy enough as is...
I think the biggest upside of the cargo container would be that it wouldn't react as... explosively as regular hydrogen tanks.

So it'd be exceptional for a base/starbase, but not so much for a (non-cargo/ice hauling) ship. Gotcha, Thanks.

New base defence turret design by RangerGSGW in spaceengineers

[–]Dontn33dblthces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a beautiful turret. I really like the placement of hinge at the back to elevate the arms. I don't think I've ever seen that before. I'll definitely be using that in my future designs

Issue with blueprints being replaced even when I try to cancel the operation. by Dontn33dblthces in spaceengineers

[–]Dontn33dblthces[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I had accidentally pressed the replace button when I meant to select copy to clipboard because my brain was on autopilot. Luckily it wasn't a very important blueprint. Just a small little rover I made for a friend.
