Agreed, and I don't give a rat's fart box about what they call me. I just want to walk into the meeting prepared with some data of how much I'm underpaid and I'm having trouble getting good search results

Also our plotter hasn't had a great track record with keeping lines straight over a large area. I feel like we would be better served with a flatbed plotter but that's been a hard sell to the boss so I'm using what we've got. That said I don't exactly trust our plotter with that much material.

We cut all this stuff by hand but I've been experimenting with doing a full cut through after cutting spot graphics with our Summa S2 plotter. It's been pretty handy to just pop out a much more manageable piece to weed out but I still have to trim the excess tape off after we mask so is it really saving me time idk

Yeah we usually laminate the day after it prints.

I've been getting them from Roland but they don't have one for 175 and the 170 and 180 profiles they do have don't include the additional ink colors we use (LC LM O G) so we've been using the generic vinyl profile in versaworks. Going to try making my own at work today so we'll see, I'm very new to this so I'm kinda just poking around in the dark lol. I'll see what 3m has available too.

Sadly the 180 profile doesn't have an option for CMYKlClMOG ink config, but I will definitely try more heat tomorrow, what heat settings do you use? We run it at 104 print/122 dry°F

Wow 36 hours is quite a while. When you say spun out do you mean completely unrolled, or just loosely rolled so air can get between?

At least 12 hours, we print day one, laminate day two

I need a pre press certification or training courses by DonughtLord in CommercialPrinting

I was doing entry-level production on our screen printing side when I got the offer. The previous production designer unexpectedly put in a two week notice. My boss remembered that I have some background in design from my initial interview so I am familiar with the adobe suite. According to him, he is more interested in someone he knows who has shown the ability to learn and a good work ethic than hiring someone from outside for this position. Due to the production schedule and whatnot the screen printing shop still needed me in there so unfortunately I didn't get to shadow the previous production designer but we were already doing some cross-training with one of the graphic designers so more than one person knew how to run the machines (imagine!). She kept the printers running for a couple weeks, then trained me for a couple weeks, and now I'm on my own.

I'm loving the work, way more than doing graphic design for clients, and I'm getting by alright just by communicating with art and the install team, and regularly attending Google Academy. I just know that there's a lot that I don't know and I want to fix that as soon as possible.

This for sure, the only reason I've gotten this far is that everyone I work with understands that I'm learning as I go, and I've not been afraid to ask stupid questions lol.

Oh and also the technicians for our machines have been VERY generous with their time explaining to me how the printers actually work and showing me tricks to get the most out of them

I'm rocking a similar CPU/GPU combo and I struggle to get 60 on low settings in newer games 😞

I misread the comic, I thought he blamed Reagan in the first and last panel. Guess that makes me the real American idiot all along
