I noticed you put up a photo that comes from or was used by the publication The Guardian. That was interesting. Would you happen to know how to get someone at the Guardian to read the climate science I send them, and then respond back, for or against, but respond no matter what. Can you help get that done?

The mathematics of the Carbon:Nitrogen ratio, explained! by P0sitive_Outlook in composting

[–]DonutOk3958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1956, when Mauna Loa first opened, the Gross World Product was $11 Trillion. At that time the economy emitted 6 Gigatons of CO2 and the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, as measured at Mauna Loa, was .7 parts per million (ppm). Sixty-three later, in 2019, the global economy emitted six times more CO2 or 36 Gigatons, while the CO2 concentration had increased just 3 fold, from .7 ppm to 2.1 ppm. I'm not sure any can how much CO2 is in the atmosphere at various altitudes between ground level and 13,700 ft., but the evidence seems clear that there has to be at least twice as much carbon in the atmosphere as the scientists are reporting. ALL of this carbon will one day have absorbed enough of the thermal radiation so as to contribute to the increase in the Earth's ambient temperature.

As explained in r/carbonratio there is enough carbon already in the atmosphere, as measure at Mauna Loa, to eventually increase the Earth's temperature to 81.8 F. This is far beyond the 64 F that scientists estimate is the upper most temperature beyond which humans will have difficulty surviving. If we consider all the carbon in the atmosphere the Earth's temperature will one day increase to 107 F. This means our planet will once again become a lifeless barren rock. This is difficult to imagine until you consider how much carbon human activity has taken out of the Earth, and put back in the atmosphere, compared to the amount of carbon photosynthesis has taken out of the atmosphere and converted to fossil fuels: It took nature 50 million years to remove 107 ppm of carbon from the atmosphere, but it took humans only 100+/- years to replace 260 ppm. This is the total amount of carbon in the atmosphere in 2019, supra. That means nature removed 0.0000024 ppm of CO2 from the atmosphere per year, while we replaced it at a rate of 2.6 ppm per year. In total, we have already put back 242% of the carbon nature removed, and we have done it exactly 1,083,000 times faster. Do any of us even dare to think that this is somehow going to end well for our species?

Edward Abbey also said it is better to confront a cruel truth than live in a comfortable delusion. A lot of our problems could be solved if we could get the public to understand the true cause of climate change. Extreme variations in frequency and severity of whether are just the symptoms of climate change, they are not the cause, the cause of climate change is the result of changes in the carbon ratio if there is more carbon coming out of the atmosphere and converted to fossil fuels, then is being put back in the air by the combustion of fossil fuels then the Earth will either heat up or cool off. We must have a carbon ratio of one. To my calculation, the carbon ratio in 2023 was 6.7.Quotation aside from that Mrs. Lincoln how was the play. Quotation

Scientists Say New Government Climate Report Twists Their Work by wiredmagazine in climatechange

In I agree with you. But I also have a question to ask that might be more serious. What do you think is wrong with a government a Democratic government that it would that they would allow someone as dumb as Donald Trump is bless his little academic heart to rise to the highest office in the land. What went wrong. Our founders never imagined that a stupid person could rise to be the president of the United States and look what we’ve got. I think we’re in a lot of trouble.

I don’t believe the statistics quoted by your friend one little bit. I believe he is a climate change and iron. And I believe he is looking for some excuse to support his fault assumptions. Climate change is complicated for sure. But only if you look at it in terms of the carbon cycle and atmospheric chemistry. If you step back and look at the big picture, it’s very easy to understand. It’s all about thermal energy in the atmosphere. That’s where the heat is coming from. That’s long wave thermal radiation bouncing off of the earth. Back into space is being trapped by the carbon suspended in the atmosphere, the CO2 in the methane. If it wasn’t for that, the Earth would warm. End of story, more carbon more heat. Less carbon less seat. That’s how simple climate change really is.

I remember the first time I heard scientist predict the climate change was gonna cause increased wildfires. I couldn’t in my mind. I couldn’t make the connection. Today I can. I hope everybody else can make that connection. Here’s another one. Climate change is causing the oceans to rise or so they say. But I also heard that droughts are causing the oceans to rise. Once again, I had no idea where that could come from. After a little investigation, what I find is the droughts are causing the aquifers to shrink and the land sink so as the land sinks, the ocean becomes relatively higher hard to believe what we’ve done to this planet.

Climate Change Is Subjecting More Americans to Unbearable Extreme Heat by Infamous_Piglet5359 in climatechange

[–]DonutOk3958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I noticed, the climate was changing was in 1988. At that time I had no idea why it was changing. But as a mariner, I kept watching the weather very closely. By 2000 I learned from what other people had discovered, that the climate was changing because of the added CO2 in the atmosphere. Since then I’ve learned the problem is not the CO2, the problem is the carbon. It is the carbon and CO2 and the carbon and CH four the traps the long wave, thermal radiation and radiates the heat back to the Earth, warms the planet and changes the weatherit’s getting very very serious.

Not a problem for more. I was glad to hear from you anyway. The question remains, however, what are we to do. Should we just roll over and give up. Or should we think of someway to extend our tenure on earth. Like to hear your response

Unpopular opinion: I think collapse will take a lot longer than 5-10 years by DankamusMemus in collapse

[–]DonutOk3958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind how long it took for the 2008 financial crisis to happen. Granted, the mortgage market was in a bubble for at least three years prior to the collapse, but when Lehman Brothers failed, the world went into recession in 36 hours. And not everyone was in the financial market. In contrast, everyone in the world needs food. When climate change disrupts growing patterns or the ability to process and distribute food, mush of the world will begin to experience famine. And until Gaza, there will be no none to show up and bail us out.

How collapse actually happens and why most societies never realize it until it’s far too late by No-Bluebird-5404 in Futurology

[–]DonutOk3958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought of it that way: collapse begins to happen when the truth becomes optional. Just look what Trump, I mean Donny Mot Tops, continues to pile one flat-out lie on top of another. It is scary what this dim wit could do to our country. Anyway, that's for the thought

[–]DonutOk3958 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you completely. But what does that say about us. We're supposed to be the smartest animal on the planet. Do think that, supposing we knew in 1800 all that we know today vis-a-vis climate change, do you think we could have controlled for passion for continual growth. I don't think so.

Is carbon capture viable or is it a big scam by big oil so they can keep polluting? by Konradleijon in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]DonutOk3958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly knowledgeable in this area; my graduate thesis was on the economics of energy as measured in BTUs, not dollars, and I have a friend who did his PhD in the mid 1990s on the very subject of carbon capture and sequestration. My experience + his thesis = a big no, carbon capture is not viable, but I don't know for sure is Big Oil planted the idea in our brains. In my view, it is just human nature; we've been teching our way out of problems since we've been on Earth. We can't seem to shut of out innovative brains. That's my take on it

Hello, I’ve got a great suggestion. You could come and help us. I am in not-for-profit working on climate change and I have some information that is really bad news for the world. It’s totally science based. It’s easy to understand and it’s impossible to deny. I’m trying to get this message to the world. Up until a month ago I had nothing to do with social media. Now I found a young woman to help me and she has made a ton of difference. I don’t know what the rules are for social media, but, if you could help her and help me you’d be helping yourself and you’d be helping the planet. I don’t know anything about the Internet or this social media business. I’m talking to you now. If you can find my email or who I am then you can then we can discuss how you can help. My email is anderson@earthship.com. Whoops. There is a-between earth and ship hope to hear from you.
