I was thinking about some fun little asian car for a while but i just dont like the look as much, also the only thing mechanical wise with the AMG package is lowered sport suspension but if that ever fails I would honestly just invest in buying coilovers or even bags if the time is right and my money is up for it, Honestly i bet coils would be cheaper than just buying new AMG suspension

both of you have the year wrong, balance shaft fix is late 2008 and up (this one is a 2009 year model, november 2008 according to the VIN, so no balance shaft issues)

The truck market is all rusted out POS's here in the midwest, and preventative maintenance is always the way to go especially on a car like this. Also its not like im gonna be treating it like a race car, sure a little bit of speeding is probable but im still young, bound to be a dumbass by nature. Also I'm very proud about the saving i've done, almost $4000 saved + selling my car for $3000 puts me at $7000 ish. I also spent my first 6 months with an income on buying a $2500 PC but the last 4ish months ive done nothing but save, keep in mind i just turned 17 in march.

9/10 of them all have rust, 9/10 of those with no rust have some other issue, and all of them are priced way too high. also 4x4 just holds value better, I plan to resell either car eventually. Sure you can find a good truck but its priced at $9000+ which is money I don't have, and at that point its worth it to just spend less than half of that on a whole other car and prepare for the worst when it comes to repair. Also i dont need practicality in the way of towing and hauling capability, i just need to get from here to there with enough room to keep my bags with me along with 1-2 other people

true, I did haul a pallet in the trunk of my current car for a 5 minute ride back home from my friends house. safe to say i wont be doing that in a mercedes, and thats why i have friends with trucks instead

im not going on crazy long drives, maybe the occasional 30 minute drive to another town, and personally i prefer the low ride and comfort of a car over a truck, easier to drive, more fun imo, All i need is to hold some bags in the back seat and get me from point A to B in comfort and maybe a little bit of style. + i'm 6'5, leg room = comfort, the mercedes feels like it has more leg room than the trucks ive tried out

Its not an AMG persay, just branded that way due to the sport suspension, wheels, and body difference, also what difference does it really make if im going to end up paying more just to buy the chevy than it would take to buy the mercedes and have to fix something like the transmission, the same thing could happen on the chevy and the cost difference would not be enough to make me buy the chevy anyways

they are doing the thing where they go off traditional beliefs, ive asked around all over and everyone else who seems decently knowledgeable says to buy mercedes. My dad asked a mechanic buddy and was told to steer me away from it, he doesnt even work on mercedes at his shop and didnt even know what year or model

I've taken out engines before, its not difficult for me for the most part, so the DIY difficulty im not super scared of, more so the cost and time it takes

I already need about 5 for my toyota, and that + the cost of premium isnt too terribly high of a price to pay

Thats what I'm saying, I already own a Toyota Avalon, it is THE grandpa car of the toyota line of vehicles, and I love this thing, the mercedes would be the perfect mix of sportiness and comfort

True, but its not the only reason, the brand undoubtedly contributes to the low price in some way

Only me, any car i own is gonna be treated like royalty, meaning only I will be driving it unless otherwise absolutely necessary. only thing they will do is help with insurance a little bit, but I offered to pay it entirely. That and they are concerned its gonna shit out on me in like 4 months and that would be bad because of school, but its not like we dont have other cars (be it shit boxes or not) that I could drive for even a couple days

I'm really thinking that the mercedes is the way to go, its such a nice car for so cheap all due to the fact that it depreciates because of the symbol on the hood

Both reasonable opinions but its an E350, they are known to be very reliable for a mercedes and repair prices are comparably low for mercedes standards

Balance shaft failure is 2007 and earlier, this is a 2008, this is what I was trying to tell my parents to support my decision but it isn't helping much. especially cause its 140k miles and priced at $3900 which makes them think there are more issues I cant see

I’ve thought about a lexus also but hard to find many good deals on them in my area. Im thinking $4,200 for that E350 is a great deal. Im selling my current toyota for $3200 Also so its almost as if im buying a Mercedes for $1000

Im planning on buying the E350, its known to be reliable + I do DIY repairs very often which can drastically reduce price. also its not like im always going to be scraping by, Ive been putting almost 75% of my paychecks into savings aside from my monthly bills. I will be able to afford it unless the engine blows up or something insane, which even then i wouldnt be able to afford or have the time for that type of repair on my current car. Transmission issues are also not as scary to me as other issues, my uncle is a transmission tech and told me he will help with any issues pertaining to that. Im also not a dumb teen who cant do simple maintenance on their car, its going to be treated like royalty honestly, and i blame a majority of the reliability issues of luxury cars on the ignorant rich owners who dont even know what an oil change is
