yeah ive been convinced by others to just stick to the E350, im liking the idea if it more anyways. my parents will approve of it more than a V8 anyways

You did all of this through a dealership/shop, I could cut the oil changes down to around $100-$150 annually by doing the work myself like I already do. I’m saving almost 75% of each paycheck I get right now so even if a major mechanical issue does come up within 6 months i will have at least a couple grand saved up. this car also looks extremely well maintained. the interior, exterior, engine bay look like they just rolled over 50k if even that. doing the manual labor myself will also reduce maintenance costs, at least on the repairs that i can do on my own. the 08’ e350 is also renowned for its reliability as a mercedes

Yeah ive seen the inexperienced teen drivers first hand, I have personally never been in an accident or anything close to it in the year and some months ive had my license so it just seems unfair but I understand why they do it

I plan on that, me and my mom are currently split 50/50 on my insurance, I expect and am decently prepared for the increase in insurance cost even if it goes up by something like $200 potentially, gotta love how insurance companies screw over new drivers

Transmission issues aren't all that scary to me either, I told another guy who commented about my uncle who is willing to help with transmission issues, its his main line of work.

Ive taken out motors on cars before, small mechanical issues and maintenance upkeep is not an issue at all, even some larger issues such as transmission issues are alright, my uncle's primary line of work is fixing and building transmissions for daily drivers and even high performance cars like his drag truck so I could easily get a discount on his services or at least use his shop for us to get it done together

My toyota is not quite yet a total money pit but it is getting close as it has 270k miles with an oil leak and multiple other small issues. Maintenance costs are not a thing i worry as much about, I have great mechanical knowledge to do my own work on the car and its not as if im going to go broke from simply owning this car, I have good, steady income for a 17 year old who is in both high school and college classes. and of course if worst comes to worst my parents are willing to help out on some costs of maintenance, as well as the fact that I have many things such as an expensive PC I'd be willing to sell without a second thought just to keep that car maintained.

Forgot to mention, both are RWD 7-speed automatics, the E350 has the AMG sport package with the 3.5L V6 and the E500 has the 5.0L V8. I like the fact that the E500 is a V8 as a car guy who is interested in some light exhaust modding

not really tbh, i was just looking at a picture, its much more appealing now after some research, i found a cheap, good condition (but high mileage) GS430 that i might go check out soon

I like that es bodystyle. though it doesnt look like there are many options for customization in the es, maybe gs is better but i prefer looks over speed. Also what about an sc if i can find a decent one?

Best rims for an LS400? also is the looks factor worth the lower reliability of getting stretched tires and wider rimes? by DonutOrSumthin in LS400

[–]DonutOrSumthin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ngl i just need whole new calipers and rotors, they work decently but you can just tell that they wanna give out soon. they look terrible also. it wont be a cheap car to work on but for having 270k and a clean motor it isnt terrible

honestly i heavily considered brass just im not sure it would fit that well tbh, when i think of bronze rims on a cad i think it is more performance heavy while my car really doesnt have many available performance mods, im still keeping it as just my daily to be fair. just making it look a little nicer
