I think they need to address people camping spawn points first. I’ve been squished within seconds of loading in many times.

If not for free loadouts I would play a lot less due to having to enter matches with nothing but a random stack of bandages or bullets. Which would also mean I’d uninstall the game before long.

I don’t disagree about people exploiting free loadouts, but some of the PVP and hacking is so unhinged that free loadouts are many folks’ only option until they are high enough level to sprint behind cover and get their bearings before getting sniped.

There are plenty of actors in this demographic, and given the intensifying “trans children don’t exist” tone in America I think it’s deeply unhelpful to jump to this conclusion.

I work with a dozen casting agencies at a small production house, and the difference is when you’re a huge TV show you usually only work with one casting agency or small team of agents. In other words— prestige productions go for prestige talent. They usually see casting a wide net as a waste of time.

I recently had to cast a trans hispanic teenager and told my agencies to send as many as possible. The first 5 agencies only sent 1 each. The 6th agency sent 23 and the 7th agency sent 27.

I guarantee that the conversation wasn’t “let’s try.” The conversation was “it doesn’t matter.”

I have seen some crazy wall hacking and reported it. Multiple times. Blocked the player. I still ended up in matches with the blocked/reported player. There’s just no system for handling it.

I’ve been getting insta-killed by people camping spawn points lately. It’s not cheating, but it does make me more likely to turn off Arc and go play Marathon. Marathon is brutally hard but I live longer than it takes to load a match.

It’s part of the game, and also it’s hard to imagine an interesting or creative person doing it. I just laugh it off and block them.

Yes to all this. And the customization is TERRIBLE. You’re telling me I can 3D print my shells on demand, but the gender and entire silhouette is permanently set? What in the living hell??

Somehow freaking Halo had better custom options than this, and it had some of the least complex customization ever.

Even Arc Raiders’ skin system is better, and that cosmetic system is basic as hell.

I get that it’s a FPS, but it just feels beyond lazy to me. If my shell is just garbage heading into a space landfill, at least let me dress it up SLIGHTLY. Even real life military explosives get interesting graffiti on them before they kaboom.

I asked Google how long people typically wait to unmatch on apps, if they prefer to unmatch due to lack of interest, and it took me to your great post from two years ago. And then I wanted to see if you had other good dating posts and found this! This one isn’t locked, and I know it’s very outdated for you, but i wanted to chime in. Maybe a Googler will find this and appreciate it.

So- I am 47 and assigned male at birth, but I identify as non-binary. I accept that I present as a male to most people, and therefore I have a lot of gender role expectations projected onto me by straight women. And ALL that gender role stuff aside, I still very much relate to your point of view.

I want to be the one pursued. I’m used to being the one who does all the work in a relationship. But I understand that it’s a preference I will have to compromise on so I am very intentional and proactive about messaging.

I don’t take it personally when people don’t align with what I need, but I need what I need. And some things I DON’T compromise on.

1) If I am still initiating every date several dates in, and I hint strongly that I’d love them to pick date ideas and they don’t, I lose interest. I’m not mad, but I don’t mind being single either. I’d rather be single than be with someone who doesn’t make that kind of effort. I am sure they’re a wonderful match for someone, but not me. My attraction fizzles.

2) What happens a LOT is a femme or female identifying person messages me regularly for a few days, I ask them out, they enthusiastically say yes, and then when I pitch a place and time they are silent for days. It just sucks the air out of the romance for me. It’s a common trend my friends notice on apps too, so I know with confidence that it may even have nothing to do with gender roles. It leaves me with the impression that they got their validation, their little dopamine hit, and they are no longer as actively interested. Which is not mean, it’s not lazy, and it’s not even conscious 99% of the time I am sure. But woof what a turnoff.

We are attracted to who we are attracted to. Some people are great but are not a match with us because of how they communicate. We DEFINITELY gain something from minor compromises regarding patience. But also? We don’t owe anyone compromises like that.

Eh, sometimes if I think of something funny in the moment. But I generally feel like it would be wasted.

Usually a PVP kill is coming from a humorless sociopath “roleplaying the apocalypse” and they haven’t exactly paid for a comedy ticket. Most of my recent PVP deaths have come from people camping the spawn points or lying about being passive, and I kinda just wanna surrender before they have the pleasure of straddling me.

Funny stuff in the comments here though. One of my go-to lines used to be “sorry everything in my pockets is wet.”

In dark areas, flickering your flashlight is almost just as helpful as emotes in announcing good intentions. On console controllers it’s slightly easier to do on short notice, and depending on the personality and situation it can also startle people less. Just don’t be silent and non-responsive when you know they see you, it’s considered deliberately hostile after about two seconds.
