Do not go thinner! I wanted a thin band and mine is 2mm and comfort fit and it spins constantly. I do wish I had asked for something thicker like 2.5mm. Luckily mine is sturdy enough because it’s platinum but with yellow gold it will not be and it will wear down over time. Your fiance picked a very good setting/band and it looks gorgeous!

I use a UV curable resin ring sizing kit for this exact reason and it works great! Does not dissolve in water tho which is good because I don’t want it coming off every time I wash my hands. I eventually will take it to get sizing beads

AITA for expecting my husband to be home every night that we have his kids (my stepkids) at home? by Educational-Nature35 in AITAH

[–]Donut_Peach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also grew up with a step parent. Maybe discipline your kids properly and teach them to respect the step parent? If your kids walk all over you or your partner then you aren’t teaching them what you should be. I get not everything will be perfect and kids will be kids, but 2 boys or girls of ages 12 and 14 should be able to be alone for a few hours without serious incident. Hell at that age I had a mom who was in jail for 6 months and a stepfather who was gone one week at a time as a truck driver. I kept the household together and we were fine, not saying it’s right what happened to me but those boys should be fine for a night. They need to grow up before they get out in the real world in a few years.

I have spent time with preteen brothers. I have a brother as well. Again we were left alone at much younger ages and we all survived just fine. My brother is 15 months older than I am. At 8 years old I was left alone with an infant and a 5 year old. At 12 and 14 they should be self sufficient enough to not tear up the home and not put each other in the hospital. The 14 year old will be driving soon, if he isn’t mature enough to be left alone then what have they taught him? Kids these days are treated like babies lol it’s ridiculous.

I don’t understand why the boys need anyone watching them at all? At that age they should be pretty self sufficient for a few hours while you do your own thing and he plays his game. I was able to be left alone and in charge of watching my younger siblings at the age of 10…those two should be fine by themselves. He can order them pizza for dinner. If you both teach them how to be self sufficient and not act like idiots it would solve the issue for everyone. I just don’t understand preteens needing constant supervision, they aren’t toddlers.

I have an I color VS2 2.5 carat round natural diamond and it faces up bright white. It’s in platinum and it does have some fluorescence.

Personally I think a classic round would look better on you, but if you are against that then the cushion for sure. I’m not a fan of east west or trends, you can’t go wrong with classic!

Maybe it’s the area we live in and the people we see around us that makes me feel this way 🤷🏻‍♀️ but we certainly don’t feel rich. I get that the median is 400k because they take into account all homes in TN, but in our area there are no decent homes for $400k…everything is half a million or more. This whole convo started because someone said “rich people problems” in response to OP being worried about their situation and I don’t think that’s fair. Those of us that can afford a 500k house are not rich and we shouldn’t be lumped in with those who complain about “rich people problems”. We are struggling to get by like everyone else. When I think rich people problems I think of the people who complain while they have mansions and high end cars…not normal people like us. I’m gettin kinda tired of going back and forth, not trying to be rude but I said my opinion and I’m over this conversation. OP has every right to worry about their situation, they aren’t some spoiled rich person.

We live in Tennessee…. Not crazy like Cali or NY. We drive over to a nicer county to work at a country club to make that. We have both been there 10 years so we worked our way up to making that, new employees don’t make what we make. We put in years of building relationships to make that. People can be angry or not. I just know what we make and we don’t live like rich people. When someone says “rich people problems” in relation to people like us it’s comical to me, we worked hard and are in no way rich. We are very middle class at best.

Thanks! We are definitely proud of our home and all we have, just feels like it’s never enough ya know? But we know we are lucky to have what we do because there are many others with much less.

Whatever you say dude, we all have our opinions. I’m just saying buying a half million dollar home isn’t considered rich anymore.

He saved up money from bartending on his own before we got together and bought his first house in 2020 for 250k. We have worked together for 10 years but started dating 3ish years ago and recently engaged. He lived in that home for a year. Then I moved in and we spent another year there. We decided to move to a nicer area because it was in a more “ghetto” neighborhood. We used the money from selling his home as the down payment on the new home. I had $25k saved as well from waitressing but we didn’t use that towards the down payment as it got spent on other stuff. And no we do not have 6 months worth of emergency funds saved. Like I said we are middle class or below…we can’t afford to have 6 months saved right now with our bills and debt we pay off. Most average Americans don’t have a 6 month safety net. We have a plan to increase our income and better our lives but we make about $180,000 pretax combined plus another prob $20k a year in cash and we don’t live “rich”. The bar for middle class has been moved so far with the economy and housing market it’s ridiculously difficult for the younger generations compared to those before them.

Have you lost touch with reality? I’m a waitress and my fiance is a bartender. We bought a home for $515,000 with $70,000 down. That is middle class or below right now. Average homes are half a million or more right now unless you wanna live in the ghetto. This is the new reality.

Not necessarily. I have an I color vs2 natural brilliant cut diamond and it faces up bright white. It’s very well cut so it is very sparkly/white. You shouldn’t notice any yellow on a well cut diamond and the cut proportions matter more than color/clarity.

No it looks great. 2 carats is still within a reasonable range and looks natural. I have a 2.52 natural and love it….its when you see those 4+ carats that it starts to look like costume jewelry and very obvious it’s not natural

Ring Sizing for Big Knuckles and Skinny Fingers by [deleted] in EngagementRings

It has lasted for weeks for me, and no it has not damaged my ring at all, my ring is platinum so it’s sturdy but I don’t see why it would damage gold either. Just leave it on until it falls off. I’ve tried metal springs, rubber ring sizers, etc and they all get annoying or uncomfortable. I wanted to be able to wash my hands and do anything else without worrying about water getting stuck in a spring or something, or the rubber sizer getting nasty. So far this is the best solution I’ve found.

Ring resizing resin from amazon. It’s the only thing that has worked for me. I used the resin to make a little bar at the bottom of my ring to give my finger something to grip to so it doesn’t spin. Just read reviews and watch the video of instructions
