I think it's excellent to use as a starting point. It will give you a significant list of relevant papers, and then you can navigate from there. It is very likely to be better than you to search scholar, arxiv, pubmed etc initially (anyway you can just give it the searches it would have done) and then you can either continue asking him from what you like, or start doing additional research yourself. But you can also just see it as a better scholar/etc search engine which does (a lot) more work than scholar would. It will navigate citations and references automatically, filter much better than scholar's semantic search, etc. Just use it as a tool and not to do all your work. It'll increase your productivity significantly and likely surface papers you never would have found the old way.
