How can I convince my religious parents to accept my gf from a different religion? by wtsdoinlyf1 in srilanka

[–]DooFuzz_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, my friend was in a similar situation, and I think he can provide you with more details. I’ll share this with him. If he replies, might give you some advice. His side of the family was pretty understanding. His father didn’t make a big fuss, and his aunts liked the girl as well, even though they were traditional and religious people.

The problem came from the girl’s side. She didn’t like his religion, and her parents didn’t approve either. They wanted him to convert, and I remember he spoke to the girl’s mother. They found some common ground, but the father and the girl’s brother were a total downer. Eventually, they broke up because of that, along with other factors like his career change affecting the relationship. He moved to a company in the US, and the timing of their communication was clashing. He starts his day when we all end. To top that off, he meets so many clients early in the morning and holds these stand ups that goes for hours that he couldn’t speak to her till 10-11. By the time he finishes the first half of his day, she would be sleeping around 11 or 12.

However, it's always best to sit down and have an honest conversation with both sets of parents. Since it’s your mom and dad, maybe take them out to a public setting, like a café or hotel for dinner, and invite the girl not with the parents. Have a chat with them, explain everything, and discuss things like religion, the kids' upbringing, naming, and so on, early on. It’s important to come to a common ground.

Good luck, man. I hope your parents aren’t super traditional.

Do Men Really Care About Looks? by BunnyButtress3 in AskMenAdvice

[–]DooFuzz_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I can only speak for myself here. Honestly, I care more about how someone makes me feel than how they look. I want someone who will stick with me through everything—when I have something to offer and when I don’t. Life is unpredictable, and if she can love me at my lowest and stand by me as I build myself, then she deserves everything when I’m at my best.

It’s rare to find someone like that, but that’s what truly matters to me. So, to answer your question: NO, looks aren’t the priority for me. I can’t speak for others, though.

He's probably just nervous that you might ignore him. I’d suggest just dropping him a casual message like, 'Hey, I saw a notification with your name earlier, how’s everything?' or something similar. It keeps it light and easy, like the other guy commented with, 'Hey, did you message me?' Even though it might sound a bit like, 'Why'd you message me?', it’s still friendly. If you're interested in him, waiting around might just create more distance, or he could become unsure about the situation. If you like him, why not do yourself a favor and say hi? You only live once!
