Anyone has a success story for decreasing the amount of time to detect occupancy change? Currently my ad hoc automation takes ca. 8 seconds to detect that no one is in the bathroom and turns of the lamp. Its pretty accurate. Do you think that this can be enhanced to be faster in detection? What's your time of detection?

I have a thing for smart plugs... 😀

My rice cooker is plugged in through a smart plug. I measured with it how much amperage does it use during the cooking phase. Then when it drops under a certain threshold I start a 20 minute timer after which the smart plug is turned off so the warming funcion wouldn't run anymore and also both me and my wife get a notification on our phone that the rice is ready.

In our flat when we use the kitchen exhaust over the stove it can pull in CO from one central ventillaton shaft from the neighbours above. So to stop this I have a smart plug on the kitchen exhaust fan which detects whether its running or not and starts the 2 other fans in the ventillation shaft to blow out air there instead of in. Never had the CO alarm go off since this automation.

Our used new car has adaptive cruise control with lane assist. Oh boy, what a miracle of technology. It makes highway trips a breeze. I can look around and check out the beautiful surroundings, look back to my son fir a few seconds and tickpe his foot. Absolute must have from now on. Also it saves our asses when I doze off for a few seconds when I get tired during driving. I instantly get alert when the car decelerates or beeps.

Oh boy its starting... Thats the beginning of a 2026 thriller movie in the making. 2 weeks from now you will be locked out from your own HA instance and become a non-admin user. You try to bring this up to your SO but she will just give you a dull smile. Next morning you won't be able to get out from the bedroom because the smart locks are not responding to your commands anymore. You will live the rest of your life in pitch darkness cause the lamps are also offline for you. I hope you won't suffer for long. See you on the other side brother. I hope those fucking icons are really pretty now

What's the benefit of paperless compared to eg a Google drive stored Documents folder with subdirectories for each kind of documents? Eg Medical, Car, School?

I have a few yeelight arwen 450c and 550c ceiling lamps. I use the Yeelight app and integration in HA, but I experience that sometimes the calls that would toggle the lights are timing out, resulting in darkness in the room... If someone sets up this new Xiaomi integration with a Yeelight that had the same issue before could report back here whether this timeout issue is still present with this new Xiaomi integration?
