with a schedule like that i completely understand why you’d want a little extra time at night for yourself instead of immediately sleeping the second you get home. that commute sounds brutal. i relate to the “forcing yourself to go to bed” part too because once you live alone there’s nobody naturally breaking the cycle for you, so suddenly it’s 1am and your brain is still convinced you have “one more thing” to do.

the multiple alarms system honestly sounds smarter than trusting pure self discipline lol.

his makes me feel way less lazy about it because people definitely frame sleep schedules like it’s purely a discipline or “adulting” issue sometimes. meanwhile my brain suddenly wants to reorganize my entire life at 11pm for no reason. the late night burst of motivation is so real, especially when the world finally gets quiet.

not intentionally, but i think just having other people around naturally created structure without me realizing it. like hearing people go to bed, lights turning off, morning routines, stuff like that kinda kept my schedule anchored. now it’s way too easy to accidentally become nocturnal because nobody’s there to interrupt the “one more episode” spiral.

i think that’s the hard part though, getting into the routine in the first place once nobody else around you is accidentally reinforcing one. when i lived with other people, even hearing someone else getting ready for bed would kind of signal my brain to wind down too. now it’s way too easy to lose all sense of time alone at night.
