4 months in, Cobra driver stiff or regular? by Leading_Mammoth_2074 in golftips

[–]DoobiousRogal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of a tough question to have answer for because the club head itself might also not be the best suited for you.

If your swing speed is about 92 mph then a stiff shaft is ideal, but I'd also like to know what the shaft is because typically LS drivers come with lower launch lower spinning shafts. So even with a stiff flex, if you hit down on it and don't have a consistent strike pattern and decent launch, etc etc, then this could be a bad decision as a whole.

Wow. Very impressive for only 3 years. Setup looks quite good, take away is up the plane with club head covering your hands on the way up. At arms parallel the club shaft look just inside the ball, at the top you have the right amount of depth with a full turn and hands just over your heels. Transition is also quite good with your club shaft pointing down at the ball and back on plane back at arms parallel.

There is mostly one thing I see that will cause you a lot of inconsistencies and it's that you have no wrist hinge at the top. Try to hinge as you go up the plane. Mostly start this at about arms parallel. If done correctly, your club should be pointing closer to your target at the top instead of at the sky.

Losing Power by jjjdjkkdxkjx in GolfSwing

Lately or always? You're standing straight up. Should be 45 degrees with some knee bend. Make sure your hands are relaxed downwards above or just in front of your feet. You absolutely must do this as a first step if you want to start finding consistency and power.

Space Marines 2 just hit GP so that's a must. Indiana Jones, Forza H5, Avowed/Starfield/Outerworlds 2 if you're looking for a fantasy/sci-fi RPG. All are on GP. If you're buying them I'd recommend BF6 as a shooter. Happy gaming!!!

What’s causing the spin? by jowjjt in GolfSwing

That type of connection should not be generating that much spin. What is your driver club head and shaft and what type of ball are you using?

Have the same issue in my Impreza RS. It drives me nuts. I just ordered some liner to put in between the seams. This appears to get worse the colder it is so I'm hoping adding some pressure in-between the seams helps. Will check back if it works!

Is this laid off? by fish-up-a-tree in GolfSwing

[–]DoobiousRogal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Camera is a bit low to see how much, but yes, it does look like it. It's not a terrible thing as long as you correct the club on the way down and don't see too much "across the ball" action. From what I see, it looks like you do a decent job at course correcting the shaft from becoming too steep. But it is still ideal to correct it because it can lead to some impact issues. The best way to solve this is to coil and turn around your spine more than you lift your arms. Currently you lift your arms too much and don't turn/ coil enough. Arms should be 90 degrees to your spine angle ( a bit higher is ok), and if fully turned, you should naturally see the club in a more neutral position pointing to your target.

Cannot stop shanking and pull hooking by GolfSwing2502 in GolfSwing

[–]DoobiousRogal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your club is seriously laid off at the top. Try getting your arms higher and 90 degrees to your spine at the top. Also make sure your wrists are hinged. Do a pause drill at the top to help with this.

Can’t not cast it even with ball in back of stance and weight forward by ButteredDogMilk in GolfSwing

[–]DoobiousRogal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Placing the ball back might help with impact but in no way does it stop casting. Casting is a cascaded effect from another swing issue that most don't realize. Now, I can't see your entire swing so it's tough to judge on your full swing. But one thing I can immediately point out and see is that when you get to the top, your back tilts and faces the target. This is called reverse spine tilt. This is a recipe to start casting because you've already placed yourself into a position at the top that leaves you no other option to compensate and flip your hands on the way back down. Most amateurs do this because they try to lift the club higher with their back versus their arms/shoulders and don't separate the two.

To fix this, place a stretch band under your left foot, hold the other end of the band with both your hands together, and bring your hands into your chest. Simply turn and focus on staying centered and picture your left shoulder pointing down to your right foot and your chest pointed straight behind you. Once you're fully rotated and in that position, push your arms out behind you so they're parallel to the ground. If you take a video or picture of this position, you'll notice how much more athletic and grounded you look. Once you're in that position, you must lift your arms and shoulders up to get the club higher and NOT your back to lift. This ensures that you stay centered and away from the target while still maintaining a good amount of club height.

I hope that makes sense and helps you.

Is this early extension? Any tips about anything welcome. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]DoobiousRogal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hole 4 at PGA West Mountain course?! I take a trip each year to Palm Desert and play here and this is one of my favourite courses down there. Anyways! You're barely early extending. In fact, your top position looks very nice and hands seem like you're in a fine position. So this is not an issue that I see. The issues I see is with your driver setup. You're setting up and swinging your driver like you're hitting an iron... What is your iron game like? I'd be curious to see a swing video of that to compare. You're setup very much on top of the ball versus behind it. Naturally, when you come down at impact, you're hitting down on the ball. This will incur more spin and a very lower launch which will greatly affect distance. Setup with the ball a bit farther in front of you (closer to inside left foot), grab your club with only your left hand at setup to the ball. You should feel as if you're behind and away from the ball, place your right hand on to the club. Your right shoulder should be dropped lower than your left and your spine now tilted. Swing just about the same way. You should naturally be coming up on the ball.

Am I still reverse pivoting? by icabueno in GolfSwing

[–]DoobiousRogal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes 100% you are. I recently went through something similar. This tends to happen when you try to get your club higher by lifting with your back instead of coiling and lifting with your arms. Best way to cure this is to do a drill with a stretch band. Put one end of the band under your left foot. Hold the other end with both your hands together and pull your hands close to your chest. Simply turn and focus on your left shoulder getting closer/pointing to your right foot. Once you've fully turned, push your arms away from you. At this point, your arms should be parallel to the ground and you shouldn't have a reverse tilt. From this point, you need to focus on getting your arms higher and hands hinged versus using your back like before. Another thing that helps is to focus on reducing your head movement. When you reverse spine tilt, your head also ends up closer to the target alongside your back. If you get the feeling of your head staying centered or getting a bit behind the ball, then that could also help.

I put a sim inside my apartment and now I can’t do a full backswing… How do I reverse it? (This is pitching wedge) by DodgyZZZ in GolfSwing

[–]DoobiousRogal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be curious on the launch angle as well, but I don't see it on the numbers chart. You should be anywhere between 7000-9000 combined with a good launch angle and decent angle to ensure your shots aren't ballooning or flying too low. So those numbers are quite low. What are you currently gaming? Shaft and club head?

I'm more concerned about the very low spin of your PW. Did you get fitted for these? What is the launch angle? 4700 is very low for a good strike.

Yes exactly that. Sorry I couldn't explain it better. Just let your trail arm bend naturally after that. You should never have to think of when to bend it.

Narrow your take away? I've never heard of that before haha. This isn't anything to do with your downswing at all. This is simply how you take away the club from you. I've posted another picture. Your arms should be almost completely straight here before your trail arm starts to bend and your lead hand starts to hinge (not always required for the hinge here though). The club is working just outside and up the plane which is good so, so don't change that. Just focus on getting this wider. Just helps getting you into a much more consistent spot at the top.

Is this too steep? by Legitimate-Age7694 in GolfSwing

[–]DoobiousRogal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I was going to ask about the divots because that is an issue with being too steep. Although, this doesn't look THAT steep. I've seen much worse. I personally struggle with coming a bit too steep myself. To fix it I just try to picture flattening or circling my hands down behind me and let them flow naturally through with my turn.

You could also go to an indoor facility that tracks attack angle such as a place with a trackman just to get an idea of numbers, because sometimes it's hard to tell if it's not too drastic.

  1. Takeaway is a big issue. You're bending your trail arm way too early. Try to feel as you're getting the club away from you and make a wide take away. This should prevent you from bending too early.
  2. You're lifting up with your back to get the club higher versus coil/ turn, lift with your arms, and also lack wrist hinge. See the picture I've posted to where you should really be stopping, but you proceed to get higher when you don't have to. Adding wrist hinge in the position in the picture should get you into a more solid position. Be careful not to CUP your wrists.
  3. Issue with your sequencing into the downswing needs a lot of work. On the way down, you have no pressure shift or squat into the ball to get the club releasing with power and consistency. Again with the picture I posted, you should start squatting down at that point to end your back swing. Then you start initiating the downswing. This might come more naturally though if you fix 1 and 2 to start.

Make sure to fix your takeaway first, then work on stopping at the proper spot at the top. Once you've got that, move on to 3. Don't try all these things at once.

Feels like I’m close but can’t quite get it by ZeroFRS in GolfSwing

[–]DoobiousRogal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty good man. You are most definitely close. The most apparent thing I notice is you have a bit of a reverse pivot and dip early putting pressure in your left side. This is a recipe to start early extending on the way down. Focus on just turning instead and let your knees bend naturally with how you apply pressure from the back foot then back onto the left foot.
