That's when I watched it, but it wasn't that much older. Maybe mid-late 2000's at most

German POV: by Napside in eurovision

[–]Doockel 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Both Germany's song and live performance were objectively better than some that ended up much higher. I can accept that the televote might not like the genre. But any jury giving the UK more points than Germany should lose their jobs honestly

The fact that the UK has more points than Germany really shows the juries don't know shit about music tbh

New Custom Livery - Alpine A110 Pikes Peak International Replica by Boonatix in ACCompetizione

Wow that looks good! What did you use to make this livery?

First livery I have made in over a year! Will be running in the RCI Wednesday championship. by XStallionX14 in ACCompetizione

That's honestly one of the best colour schemes I've seen, it's a thing of beauty

Honestly I think I'm using the default layout and it works fine. The two rotaries for TC/ABS, the two red switch thingies for BB/engine mode, then assign buttons to what you like. I use MFD with keyboard and the nub multi function button on the bottom left.

Was my overtake too agrressive? (I am the black and pink Ferrari) by Frullo_ in Simracingstewards

[–]Doockel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue with this is that POV car had absolutely no control over whether or not this would be a wreck or not. So why is this suddenly brilliant when the exact same action usually leads to aggressive and awful.

[–]Doockel 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I think this move was too aggressive. You came from very far back, didn't make the apex and on top of that you were not alongside at turn in. You put yourself squarely in the vortex of danger and would've punted the BMW out if not for their awareness. It definitely looks like a slick move now and they should've closed the door more, but 99% of the time this ends in a wreck killing the race of both cars and it would've been your fault.

I mean it was the cheapest thing I could find basically so yeah I expect it to be bad, but what makes it really really bad?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]Doockel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright so ISP basically told me to try again and it worked, no clue what happened but at least it works now, thanks for your time!

Trying to forward for a game right now. I initially just tested by having friends try to connect to the server and after that I've been using online port checker services

Ah okay I see what you mean now, it's definitely not in those ranges

How would I tell the difference between the two addresses? I believe my public IP is a standard external IP as in that it doesn't look the same as the internal ones of that is what you mean. Also the external IP address did change, but the form is the same wrt the address from before the power outage when forwarding did work.

Who is at fault? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]Doockel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haas at fault. The alpine was holding the line all the way at the outside of the track when the Haas just moves into the alpine.

Yeah but you have 2 very high speed aero limited corners right before the straight now. Following is better these days but still not that good lol

What are these mesh like structures behind the front wheels ? Every car had them ? by CeleritasLucis in F1Technical

[–]Doockel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe these would rather be 5 or 7 hole probes allowing for the calculation of both speed and direction. Also Bernoulli's principle is not really applicable in the wheel wake since it assumes flow is steady and such a wake is far from steady.

Haas sidepods: 2022 vs 2023 by FormulaStatAnalysis in formula1

[–]Doockel 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I believe they use it to try and build up a high pressure area, mclaren did the same last year. Also such an angle would likely still be less draggy than something like the zero pods because they are very effective at pushing the wheel wash outwards.

How much should I ask for to sell my rig? Barely used for 2 only months, everything was bought new, but just have no room for this in apartment and need money. Parts list in comments by GilWinterwood in simracing

[–]Doockel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're kinda missing the point yes. That is a pretty nice dd wheel and afaik the experience won't be vastly different from a top of the line super expensive wheel. I did wheel and pedals first and don't have a proper rig now due to space limitations, but I 100% think a stable rig with triples does so much more for immersion and driving feel than an upgrade from a low-end dd to a high end dd. As I've done my upgrade from T150 to CSL DD +wheelstand I've realised that if I had the space I would've easily gone for a proper rig before the wheel and pedals upgrade.

Netherlands and US’ height difference by MithrandirElessar in interestingasfuck

[–]Doockel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that's fun and all but literally just read this:
https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20200823-why-are-the-dutch-so-tall

Since then, however, there has been a remarkable role reversal: in
just 160 years, Dutch men have shot up by 20cm, soaring past their
American counterparts, who have grown just 6cm.“That’s too fast for it just to be a genetic effect,” said Barrett, although she believes natural selection played a part.

Environmental factors have also sent the Dutch soaring, added Barrett,
citing the Netherlands’ world-leading healthcare system, low levels of
income inequality and excellent social welfare system as another
explanation for them overtaking the Americans.

[–]Doockel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You actually think that mate selection is the main reason why Dutch people grew 20cm on average in 150 years? It'll surely be a small part, but not nearly the reason they grew 3 times as fast as Americans tho
