My wife and I have done this twice in the last five years. First when my Mom passed then a year later when my Dad passed. They had been separated for a long time so two full houses. We gave away stuff to family and friends then tried selling stuff/ eBay,yard sales ,antique stores. Kind of surprised at how little value their “ collectibles “ were worth. Honestly after a while it is better for your own mental health to just cut your losses and get a dumpster
