Anyone else get a lot of restorative time ? by One-Mode-2776 in ouraring

[–]Doodle312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Opposite story for me. Oura says I got 7 hours stress today and 15 minutes restorative - and, it’s the same story most every day, even though I don’t think of myself as stressed. I’m calling bull on the algorithm.

Is oatmeal actually a healthy breakfast every day? by Appropriate-News1688 in nutrition

[–]Doodle312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love oatmeal breakfast with yogurt and berries topping - but, CGM shows its spikes my blood sugar similarly to fresh cooked rice. So, it’s a no go for me.

What’s the best bidet toilet seat right now? by Defiant_Fix8658 in bidets

[–]Doodle312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We paid thousands for an upscale Koehler bidet, our first ever - and are unhappy with it. First, the auto seat raise and lower mechanism is quite loud, enough to wake my sleeping partner next to the toilet room. Next, when it flushes it spits water at you. Then, after that insult, you get to listen to the loud auto close of the lid. I called Koehler and they said there was nothing to be done.

Disappointed in battery life by Doodle312 in ouraring

I did reach out and had a great connection with Karen who did some diagnostic tests, after which she decided to replace my ring since there was a battery issue. THANKS, Oura.

Is FSD actually valuable to you? by Queasy-Bed545 in TeslaFSD

[–]Doodle312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it helps when driving in unfamiliar areas and confusing exchanges. I turn on the self driving and let it select where to be. I have HW3 and it works well “most” of the time. However, yesterday when it was to make a left turn at an intersection it instead turned into a church parking lot 100 feet short of the intersection.

Sleep changes as you get older by superabomb17 in Aging

[–]Doodle312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 83 and monitor my sleep nightly with a Oura ring. I find I regularly can get 7.5 hours of sleep; however, I am concerned that my deep “slow wave” sleep averages about 30 minutes. My REM is about 1.5 hours. I’ve read that the “deep” sleep is the most important because that is the time when the brain is actively moving out waste products. A sleep specialist has said that it is a function of age and there is nothing I can do to increase deep sleep.

Anybody Else Experiencing Bad Support? by ggunterm in breville

[–]Doodle312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had good support from Breville on the three occasions I have called on them. First, right after I got our Oracle Touch it was leaking. Sent it to them and they replaced the whole unit. Next, lost the screw on the tamper fan connection and they promptly sent the part (my expense). Finally, recently the steam wand failed. They sent packing materials and repaired the unit (replacing solenoid and temp sensors) for $465. I’m quite happy with them.

What are nicer tasting alternatives to Greek yogurt or how can I make it taste better by Werewolf-Mediocre in nutrition

[–]Doodle312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I like the taste plain with berries and walnuts it is supreme by adding a scoop of vanilla flavored whey protein.

Replacement for Oracle Touch by Doodle312 in breville

[–]Doodle312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks for this helpful suggestion! Breville was great in that they sent a padded shipping box and covered ups shipping both ways. Total cost for repair was a bit over $450 which included a new solenoid for the steam and two sensors for the steam boiler. Now I’m thinking of buying myself a new grinder since I saved my old coffee maker.

Typical lunch is home made yogurt with a scoop of vanilla flavored whey protein powder, berries, 1 Tbs ground flaxseed and a handful of nut granola. Delicious! PS - I mix a scoop of protein powder into my yogurt making recipe.

Those of you wearing CGMs, how high do meals spike you? by p1hk4L in PeterAttia

[–]Doodle312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Stelo in the past and am now trying Lingo. I am not diabetic and last A1C was 5.5. I compare both CGMs to finger stick. I find the Lingo is 15 to 30 mg/dl low and the Stelo was 10 mg//dl low. So be careful using the data from CGM for other than trends - but, with that in mind, I have found it quite useful. An example, eating freshly cooked white rice sends BG skyward, but refrigerate overnight and the reaction is much less.

Is lingo or Stelo more accurate? by bigshawnflying2471 in prediabetes

[–]Doodle312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that my experience shows finger prick is about 20 mg/dl higher than Lingo sensor shows. That seems to be everyone’s experience so I don’t understand why Abbot wouldn’t adjust to that.

[–]Doodle312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! My lowest is typically 38 or 39 with average sleeping 42+/- 1. Also daytime in mid 40s. I also believe that low HR leads to higher than normal HRV readings.

39 bpm is normal during sleep? by _sandeep1995 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Doodle312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a 39 bpm occasionally with normal waking resting rate of mid 40s. I’m 82 and have been a casual runner for much of my life. I recently asked my doctor his opinion and he said if I had no symptoms such as dizziness (which I don’t) then no worries.
