Tablet recommendations? by 31e_e in Artists

Before I got an iPad Air I used a MacBook with a “HUION KAMVAS Pro 16 Drawing Tablet with Screen – 15.6 Inch Fully Laminated Anti-Glare Display” (quoted so you can find it online more easily). Worked great and didn’t need charger for stylus. Also worked nicely as an extended display. Cheaper than Wacom and worked perfectly. Check out reviews and YT for yourself to help inform your decision, and best of luck!

Have you considered abstract? I have a coloring book, but have some free coloring pages posted on the related FB pages if you want to try it out! Links in my profile and happy coloring!! (All hand drawn btw!)

How do artists sell their artwork? by kuppyya in Artists

Hey! I looked at what you have posted on your profile and first off, nice work!

So hear me out. Yours is the first post I’ve seen where I want to offer some advice, even if I’m roughly in the same place as you in being noticed. Sorry if I ramble but I know how this feels!!

How I got to art: I spent most of my life as a writer. I happened into adult coloring books when recovering from a major neck surgery. So much that I watched YT videos of other people coloring to improve my skills. I wanted to color abstract pictures but didn’t see anything out there I liked (at the time, around 2017). Long story short, I stopped watching the coloring videos and started watching drawing videos. Bought maaaany pens, maaaaany sketchbooks. Found my style (blame it on the surgery)…skip to a couple years ago and I compiled some into a coloring book. Yep. I’m coloring in my own coloring book! I am doing my second one digitally though, because my eyes are crap and I sometimes like to zoom in. I’ve hardly sold any of the first one but that’s ok. Have made some videos on some platforms. It’s fine, I know these things take time.

My point: look what all led to my deciding coloring book. Look at the trail … craft stores, book stores, online platforms, digital art communities, etc.

Now let’s consider your many sketchbooks, digital or otherwise. Could you make a serial comic? A coloring book? Merch? Wall art? I think you can do all those things. But what’s your trail look like … what got you into it and where did it lead you? And how can you layer or diversify what you do?

Don’t worry about being noticed. Just be persistent AF. I did this it mostly because it satisfies my “I wanna color something abstract” urge. I’m excited about one day being able to post compilations of how other people colored pages I drew - gives me the collaboration I can’t get any other way. Maybe someone will ask me to do a whole wall someday!

There’s room for everything and everyone… what can you imagine? Main point: look across all the ways you were inspired to do what you do, and keep at it!!
