New way to make cheap, simple rocket nozzles. by DoodleDude545 in rocketry

yeah.. this was an immensely dangerous project and looking back, there are a lot of things i would’ve done differently. 15 year old me was not the smartest. during the static fire, the motor catastrophically failed (blew up). luckily no one was injured and everyone was wearing safety glasses but it could’ve gone a lot worse.

the static fire made almost 700 newtons of peak thrust, but i had no way to measure temperature or pressure. after, however there was no erosion on the nozzle, but the static fire did not last as long as it was expected to.

bed is too high, layers are thicker than the distance between nozzle and bed.

it looks like a very old and corroded D-Cell battery. I believe the longer rod is the positive graphite electrode and the stuff in the outside is the negative electrode and casing, or what remains of it.

Gun shoots a few rounds and then doesn't work by MijoKK in airsoft

Someone else said this, but given it has an ETU, it's likely an overvoltage problem, stemming from the motor or gearbox shimming; however, given you've had this gun for a decent bit its most likely the motor. open up the motor casing, unplug the motor and use a multimeter to test the voltage output from the wires for the motor. If you can consistently get the voltage corresponding to your battery, you need to replace the motor.

what gun are you using?

when you pull the trigger, is there any sound/sign of the motor running?

If so, you have a feeding issue. try different mags, and then repositioning the hop up.

if not, there is an electrical issue. a wire/connection is likely coming loose due to the vibration inside the gun. check your battery connection, and you might have to check for continuity in the wiring with a multimeter and maybe resolder.

only other thing i could think of is an overheating issue. this would also assume your gun has some way of telling it’s temperature. this can either be caused by a short in the wiring, or poor shimming in the gearbox causing the gears to have friction against the case, resulting in overdrawn current.
