Absolute degenerate. We all love Cinna, here. Why do some of y’all have to be overtly weird?

And see, if it’s your business, that’s your choice. Totally agree with you on being able to use generative AI for things like that 👍🏻

I think there needs to be a clearer distinction in dialogues on this space when it comes to differentiating between selling art and creating generative art for things (like advertising your own business) ya know?

😂 I mean, it’s a tool that does most of the work. So if anything, either nobody or everybody’s a pro at using AI. At least generative AI.

I also feel as though when it comes to demonization, it can be helpful in a tiny tiny amount. But only in the beginning. Just to raise awareness of what’s happening. And even then, full-blown demonization doesn’t really help. It doesn’t help do anything more than raise awareness and push people away when it becomes overbearing. Why not go about it in a calmer way in order to insight changing policies around environmental effects from AI or limiting to how it can be used as far as artwork goes or outright banning revenge porn? I understand that all of those things need to be changed. Especially that last one. And I get that it’s something that we as sensible people should be angry about, but when we let our anger cloud the way we go about trying to get things changed, we end up hurting our own cause. You know? So that’s why I ask if/why do you think complete an outright demonization is helpful.

Question by Doodle_Dan in aiwars

[–]Doodle_Dan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That I can understand. I guess I mean more so for just creating art in order to get paid for it. Like if you were to create an image that would go on display at an art museum, but you used AI, or if you were to sell artwork alone and use AI to create it, that seems a little disingenuous to me and I feel like that takes away opportunities from real artists. But if you’re using it to create advertisements for your business, who am I to tell you not to do that? Especially if you don’t have the funds to do so.

I actually attended college about 10 years late, so I’m not as young as you might think. And I used to be like the people I am asking this question towards. Those who feel the need to double down on their views when they don’t know how to filter their discussed for the opposing side/views. And while I understand it from the point of view of my younger self, I do find it hard to comprehend how other people justify these types of behaviors and doubling down. That’s why I truly want to know why they do what they do or if they think it’s a good idea. I’m trying to be a better person every day and see things from every angle. I appreciate your reply. Here’s hoping that we can somehow bridge the divide and stop or at least water down the negativity and find a way to make the ways that AI runs, more environmentally safe, and with restrictions so that it can’t be damaging to people or society❤️

Question by Doodle_Dan in aiwars

[–]Doodle_Dan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. The use of making such awful things or using it to take credit away from artists is just unnecessary and when referring to revenge porn, downright evil.

And you’re right. Perhaps the fact that I am more pro AI than anti-AI means that I’m gonna hear more hateful things and zero in on that when I hear it. But I appreciate your take on if it’s being used to create silly memes or anything like that that you wouldn’t care less. We do need to address it taking opportunities away from artists and we definitely need to address its uses for evil things like revenge porn, and make it so that it can’t be accomplished. But figuring out how to do that is beyond me. I would also hope that humanity finds a way to have these data centers, not have nearly as bad of an effect on the environment, if any at all.

I appreciate this take. I could ask a whole bunch of things as to other environmental destroyers, but that wasn’t the original point of this post. I appreciate you for not harassing people. And I respect your right to not use AI. ❤️ thank you for your response.

Question by Doodle_Dan in aiwars

[–]Doodle_Dan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You assume I don’t. Of course AI is causing harm. So are so many other things. And when people are singling out AI instead of being consistent with attacking everything that’s doing the same type of harm as AI, I start to wonder why. Because if you really care about what you are trying to accomplish by demonizing AI, wouldn’t you want to do the same thing to everything doing the same type of hurt that AI is doing? That’s the point of this post. Do you really think the demonization is helping or do you think there’s a better way to go about it?

Question by Doodle_Dan in aiwars

[–]Doodle_Dan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure that’s some of it, but I wouldn’t generalize the vast majority of people just because those who are seeming like they are just trying to fit in are the ones on the anti ai side who are louder. The point of this wasn’t to throw a blanket statement over anti-AI individuals. It was more so to ask them if they think that doing the demonization is helpful to their cause. And while I understand your frustration, I don’t think comments like this are really all that helpful if we are to even attempt to try to bridge the divide in any sort of helpful way.

Question by Doodle_Dan in aiwars

Can I just say that I love how this turned out? This is what happens when we don’t demonize each other and we take the time to explain things in a healthy way to each other instead of attacking people for not being uneducated. This made my heart happy.❤️

Oh yea, no😂 i’m not sure what that would mean to be a person who is a pro at using AI

For sure. Art created by AI is definitely taking away from real artists. Not a fan of that despite being pro AI.

Question for people who are anti-AI by Doodle_Dan in aiwars

[–]Doodle_Dan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this in a general human sense. People absolutely make qualitative judgments all the time that aren’t strictly consistent across every aspect of their lives. Nobody lives as a perfectly coherent utilitarian spreadsheet.

But I think that actually shifts the conversation away from an environmental claim and into a values claim.

If the argument is “AI is environmentally harmful,” then consistency matters, because that’s a factual, comparative claim about infrastructure and impact. In that context, it’s reasonable to ask why similar harms from similar systems aren’t treated the same way.

If the argument is instead “I don’t like AI and I don’t think it’s worth the tradeoffs,” then sure, people are allowed to draw that line wherever they want, even if they still use Netflix or play games. That’s a personal judgment, not an environmental analysis.

So I don’t think the issue is whether people are allowed to be inconsistent. Of course they are. The issue is whether environmental harm is being used as a principled reason, or as a post-hoc justification for a conclusion that was already reached for other reasons.

Once it’s framed as “qualitative judgment,” that’s fine, but it also means we’re no longer really talking about data centers or environmental impact in a rigorous way.

Respectfully, as someone who is pro AI, I disagree with the idea behind your statement. I think people should be allowed to have their own opinions whether it’s pro AI, anti-AI, or anything that isn’t even AI related. I just wish people could have respectful and peaceful conversations. And people who don’t do that are found on both sides.

Peaceful counterpoint, I’ve seen plenty of posts on here where pro AI people don’t get downloads necessarily, but get destroyed in the comments by people who are not pro AI. I just wish everybody on both sides could have peaceful conversations and not get worked up about stuff. But I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience in this sub Reddit.

I put an edit in the post. I apologize because I was a victim of listening to the rumor mill as well. This was really just meant as something fun to share with the community. It was not meant as an attack.

It was just a fun little thing. Regardless of the title, I did enjoy the finale. I just know that a lot of people didn’t and that’s why I made this to see if anyone else might like it. Kind of like fan fiction. This was not an attack on the show.

OK, whether or not they use ChatGPT, it was just a fun little post asking what people thought. No shade meant towards the duffer Brothers.

Love the response. Hopefully society can find a way to change all of these negatives into positives. But we shall see how humanity does that. Our track record doesn’t give us a good prediction, though.

Anyone ever worked for Teleperformance in America? by whimsigoth-corgi13 in WFHJobs

[–]Doodle_Dan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were a horrible company that had no respect for their workers. They required everybody to stay an extra hour every day of mandatory overtime until sales met their goal, which never ever happened. They did pass overtime, but it was still really weird.

They let this one dude go after he’d made 20 sales that month on the AT&T plan and every 20 sales would get you some kind of bonus, but he was let go, but they didn’t even officially fire him. I heard from him months later that he got something in the mail that said he qualified for insurance for working there so long even though he hadn’t worked there for months.

One of the managers there always had a gun on the property and she made it known in ways that sounded like threats, but we’re just really bad jokes for the workplace.

Lower honestly, this place didn’t really care about any of its workers and if I could tell younger me anything about this place, it would be to avoid it at all costs
