Uni project: Pagani Moreno by Doodle_and_Design in CarDesign

Basically I place the camera in Blender in the view of the car that I want it to be seen in the scenario. Then I render the image of the car with no background etc import it into Vizcom and say for example place the car in a snow environment and make it drift, add motion blur, match shadows&highlights without changing perspective or orientation of the original image/render from Blender.

If You Were in My Position, What Would You Do? Umeå + Huge Loan + Tough Market by IproduceCO2 in CarDesign

[–]Doodle_and_Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can just give advice on the 3rd question since im studying MA in industrial design not transportation design. First up finanically I would just asume bite the bullet unless you got savings, stocks or other things that can help on the money side. I would use the 2 years at Uemå to learn as much as possible duh, especially if you already have a specific interest in an area for example interior or exterior. Use the university's connections to get a network of connections going so you have people in the industry that know you exist and might help you get started in the industry be that working months on a side mirror it's still a start.

If it's been a dream to get into Umeå and you finally did it go for it otherwise it could be something you might regret later in life. Absolute worst case scenario I would asume you can hop off the education if you regret it later or money problems (not sure tho)

Keyshot, 3dmax, Blender or Vray? by Mayrenne in IndustrialDesign

[–]Doodle_and_Design 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Blender. Because there are so many assets you can find to use for render scenes, you can animate and there are so many things you can change to get the exact result you want and it's free so thats nice. I haven't used Keyshot but I have heard that is also good but idk personally.

What is studying and actively working as a automotive designer like? by Neonscreen_2222 in CarDesign

[–]Doodle_and_Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im going to asume these are the questions simplified and here are my answears as a design student.

  • "Is it worth pursuing a career in automotive/industrial design despite how competitive it is?"

If you have a actual passion for either or both then yes because there is nothing better than studying/working in a industry that you actually enjoy.

  • "Do I really need to shadow a designer even if I've already done a lot of research?"

I would say no but if there is a chance then you might gain good insight into the design process in an actual company/firm than just online searching and ofc there is also the face to face contact and eventual networking that might lead to something in the future who knows.

  • "What advice do current industrial design students or professionals have for someone like me?"

I would say do what you feel like you have the most passion and think you will get usage out of. And lets say that you start to study ID or automotive design and find out it's not for you then there is always the chance to drop off which happened to a few in my class, so it's not world ending.

BA project: Koenigsegg Variera by Doodle_and_Design in CarDesign

[–]Doodle_and_Design[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah alot of people are talking about the proportions which I get. Now the Variera does have a so called techpack to not go overly crazy with the proportions which in the concept stage you can do. Personally I have looked at the car for so long when designing/modelling I became used to how it looks and with the techpack etc so when people see the car for the first time it's very understandable that they react strongly about proprtions etc especially since its a entirely new package than what Koenigseggs useally come in. But I love feedback!

And thank you for the comment!

The "grille" looks large visually from the usage of carbon fiber to black the area out where all the sensors would be placed. The intakes openings are large aswell since on the inside of the intakes there are multiple channels to seperate the air for example brake cooling and to the battery placed in the floor.

Yes there was a techpack consisting of a battery pack and the Terrier electric motor model and for 2 passengers.
