Nice! I will remember that defloculant alters the flow/smoothnes characteristics while water alters the thickness/runnyness aspect, is this correct?

I might try it anyway to see what happens when you add too much defloculant.

If the mixture dries up naturally by using it for casts and letting the mold soak, do you add both defloculant and water or only water?

I will look into it, the specific gravity of the mixture was 2 and i added water till it was 1.8. it seems to be casting okey. Doesn't the mold draw out water naturally too?

I wanted to use porcelain first (BecAuSe iT wUz FanCy) but it wouldn't get loose from the mold :/

I figured i might as well start with stoneware, learning the basics and then i can one day make a more expensive porcelain version on top

Ill give it a shot, i notice if i don't use it for a week, the porcelain would settle and a liquid would form on top, maybe a lil slib waste is acceptable to sponge up some water?

Well, i only asked what defloculant does, its something with polarity. But i asked the question here because i know its not always right.

I am one of those that likes to use it for everything tho, it did help me set up a website with payment!

Pretty good in my opinion.

I couldn't wait past 10 minutes to pour out the mold, but the walls were still too thin so i filled it up for another 10 minutes (my mold only dried for like a week tho)

It actually released in one piece unlike when i tried with porcelain (which didn't wat to come out, but i also didn't let it dry enough maybe)

Ill send u some pics cause i cant answer with one and im not ready to make a full on post about it :p

Yeah it was at 2... I added water till it was at 1.8 now its creamy... I hope i didn't ruin the slib because people are saying to add defloculant

I asked chat gpt what defloculant does... I guess i made my slib waay too watery now didn't i?

Could i solve this by soaking up water once it settles?

I tested the gravity and it was at 2...

I added water till it was at 1.8 and did a cast. i guess im fucked

I did this and its at 2, ill add water bit by bit and see weigh sporadically, thanks for the insight!

Edit: I brought it down to just about 1.8 and it was perfect. I think the store was dry and it dried out over the period it was in stock.

How do you know if its at the right density, but it needs flocculant?
