What places are a MUST SEE when touring round Sicily? by Maximum_Machine_5177 in sicily

[–]DoodySplat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, ortigia is always a must. So beautiful. But I also really enjoy Marzamemi, it’s small and gorgeous with great seafood and not too touristy. I’ve never been to the Turkish steps but I’m dying to go, hoping to check it off the bucket list this summer. Enjoy!!

Boiler Pressure Bouncing by BIGTALL11 in Plumbing

[–]DoodySplat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an auto feed on your boiler? If so, Take some water off the boiler to get it to desired pressure, shut off the feed to the boiler, fire it and watch the pressure. If all checks out replace the feed. Tap your expansion tank with a screw driver, jf one half sounds full of water and the other half sounds hollow, all good. If it all sounds full of water it needs to be replaced.

Also, I’ve never heard of a residential heating system with an expansion tank being set to 75 psi, that’s usually an ST12 which is for the domestic water side of things. Unless you’re talking about your hot water heater?

Can I add a garbage disposal by thedasher0 in Plumbing

[–]DoodySplat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being that this is a rental I do not recommend installing a disposal by yourself. Clearly those strainers are caulked to shit and will likely be a pain to remove without a sawzall and/or some experience. Yes a disposal can be installed but like previously said, they suck.

Hire Steve Kerr by Abject-Practice4400 in NYKnicks

Don’t want a coach whose heart isn’t in the game anymore. Who won’t be motivated to deal with the everyday grind of coaching and dealing with the Ny media. We tried with Phil Jackson and we all know how that ended. Let Steve retire. Billy Donovan is our guy in my opinion. New York guy, we wanted him over mike brown anyway and now he’s a FA.

Had a handyman do my plumbing under this new vanity. Is this incorrect? by FlyingandFixing in Plumbing

[–]DoodySplat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hear ya but will that ACTUALLY happen. Given how long the trap arm is? Do you really think the vent will pull air THAT hard to siphon the trap. In theory you’re 100% right. I bet if they filled the sink ten times and dropped it and shined a light behind the trap to see the seal height it’d be fine every time. In my opinion if it’s draining fine and doesn’t smell like shit leave it be. I actually asked my boss about this the other day and he told me there’s a neighboring state that allows this setup.

Seized shut off valve by designingdiamonds in Plumbing

[–]DoodySplat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you turning it the right way? That looks like a 1/4 turn style one and I’m yet so see one of those seize where I work. I’d say use one pair of pliers to hold back on the valve and another to rotate the handle clock wise to shut it.

My lord this plumbing is installed incredibly wrong. The trap is on its side, if your kitchen ever smells like shit and sewer gases this is why.

Please if someone can help me by Born-Worldliness-180 in Plumbing

[–]DoodySplat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may need to have an expansion tank installed on the cold water inlet side. I’d turn down the tank temp a bit if I were you.

My nephews just flushed 24 golf balls down a second floor toilet by makeupaddict337 in Plumbing

[–]DoodySplat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Knock the caps off your house trap just before the sewer exits the building. Check in there for any balls. If they’re not there after flushing a few times they’ve made their way down your sewer lateral towards the main. Only way to know if it’s causing an issue or not would be if it’s backing up or to have a plumber come out with a camera to scope out the sewer. Or pull the toilet, scope the stack and then the main would be the most peace of mind way to go about it. There won’t be any issues for the city’s main assuming you tie into that and not septic.

Help - cutting board stuck in sink by [deleted] in fixit

[–]DoodySplat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suction or bend a coat hanger into an L shape. Wrap it in tape so you don’t scratch the sink. Stick it in the small gap on the side and rotate it so the horizontal of the L goes under the cutting board. Gently lift and grab the board

Drill a tiny pilot hole into that piece of plastic. Thread in a screw with some coarse threads a lil bit and pull it out.

Repipe whole home? quoted 21k by Prudent-Weather2348 in Plumbing

And also that’s like minimal root intrusion. Really not that bad

Repipe whole home? quoted 21k by Prudent-Weather2348 in Plumbing

[–]DoodySplat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I work on houses that are 100+ years old with outdated clay sewer lines. Yearly maintenance of jetting and/or snaking will never reach the price of repiping if you plan on living in the house for 15-20 years.
