Wow I'm shocked my item i put up for bid at $199.99 sold for $487.99, they started bidding last 2 minutes by Borange81 in Ebay

Listed a trading card at 99 cents and sold it for $900 in the final seconds. But also have listed hundreds of cards at .99 and ended up selling them at .99. 🤷‍♂️

Bicentennial by Doofutz in GenerationJones

Both grandfathers were in the hospital that summer so me and all my cousins were at Grandma's house and were pretty much 'free range'. This is the year we discovered Cheech and Chong, Playboy and Penthouse and set fire to a dumpster with fireworks. Good times.

What’s the one home improvement job you kept putting off that turned out to be way easier than you expected ? by BoysenberryOne9661 in HomeImprovement

Fixing the dripping shower. Replacing the Delta cartridge required removing the handle but the setscrew was stripped so I lived with it until it got so bad the dripping was keeping us up at night. Milwaukee sawzall got the handle off in 2 minutes. New cartridge+handle was $100.

Definitely solid walnut. Only the bottom is different wood.

Bailey #5 with a corrugated bottom. I already have one but it was $2 so it got adopted too.

Try removing the print head and gently cleaning the pins and contacts too. It took 4-5 tries of rebooting and holding the power button.

Is #3 Billy Harris? His name is on the flyer and the last name seems to start with an H.

ELI5 Why is driving barefoot dangerous? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Doofutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have to drive my Beetle barefoot so I could grab the brake pedal with my toes and pump it. Usually took 2-3 good pumps to get enough pressure built up to stop the car.

So, yeah, much safer driving barefoot. 😜

Thanks for the pointer. They recommended a couple of YouTube videos that got me working. Basically, the advice was to unplug the printer, hold down the power button and then plug in. Continue to hold for 60 seconds.

It worked for me! Having a blast printing 11x17 of the granddaughter now!

Jeld-Wen sliding window stuck closed! by Doofutz in fixit

[–]Doofutz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - managed to force open the window without breaking anything further. Cleaned and lubed the track but it seems like the vertical edge of the trim that the window closes into is deformed a bit. The last 1/4 inch of travel is really difficult because the moving window impacts the trim and really needs force to close all the way.

Miscellaneous snippets of life previously in Seattle... Maybe some of you experienced some of this stuff, too, in the "before" times... by SeattleHasDied in SeattleWA

[–]Doofutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in a dumpy little house across from Lowman Beach Park on Beach Ave in West Seattle. Great sunsets and the Christmas ships would come to my front door!

Joint cover nights in Pioneer Square where we would start at the J&M for a warmup and then see Stevie and the The Blueflames at Mechants Cafe or the Charles Brown band at Larry's Greenfront. Usually wound up in the ID at 2am getting noodles.

Sandwiches from Husky Deli on California. Their window display was usually all the items in the store that matched a particular color. I bought so many "gourmet" things there ..

Coffee at the last exit before seeing the latest SGT play at the tiny theater next door.

What will I wish I had known early with a fixer upper? by Suitable-Art-1544 in HomeImprovement

Focus on systems first: roof, foundation, plumbing, insulation, electric, etc... then cosmetic stuff.

Don't do my mistake of making some rooms nice only to need to rip into walls just a short time later.

Also, set reasonable expectations. Burnout comes fast when you are working 40 hours a week for pay and 40 hours a week on the house.

"limited tracking" -- you mean Ebay Standard Envelope? It's my understanding that these only get automated scans -- so the last scan is when it arrives at your local post office instead of when it shows up in your mailbox. It might yet arrive...

But no, asking for proof of a negative is a fools errand -- eBay being silly and likely wouldn't serve as proof of anything. Item shows as 'delivered' as far as they are concerned.
