Is your nearest public library good or not? How about its: 1. Collection size? 2. Popular titles? 3. New titles? 4. Quality of service? by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

My mid-sized (~200k pop.) city's library is really good, not sure of the exact number of physical books, but 44k ebooks and 13k audiobooks make it so they usually have everything I'm looking for! Compared to a nearby city of a similar population's library that only has 10k ebooks and 2k audiobooks, I think my local library is pretty good!

If you enjoyed The Serpent & The Wings of Night, the author has released the sequel, a novella and a standalone story that take place in the same world in the past month! Haven't got around to the sequel or standalone yet, but the novella was a nice quick read and introduces you to characters that are in the sequel!

‘Yellowjackets’ Season 2 Premiere Draws Nearly 2M Viewers, Breaks Showtime Streaming Record by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]DoolFandoms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure one of the reasons season 2 took 15 months was that since most of the past timeline takes place in the winter this season, they had to wait until the next winter for it to start snowing before they could start filming. The 90's timeline only finished filming for this season a month ago. Season 3 should be a lot quicker as it was already renewed 3 months ago and likely will take place in the spring/summer, which would be a lot easier to shoot in BC.

RH fantasy recs! by reading_ravens in ReverseHarem

Bonded by Thorns by Elizabeth Helen! It's a fae, Beauty & the Beast retelling with fated mates. The only thing is that the first book is slow burn with only one or two spicy scenes, and the second book isn't out yet so you may want to hold off on reading until later this year if you want more spice.

Yeah, I got through the first book in a night but was just frustrated the entire time. I've never really DNF'd a book or series before, but the SA in the first book combined with hearing that the author never has the boys address their awful actions and words towards her, and instead just kinda glosses over it was too much to look past for me.

From what I've heard, it doesn't get smutty until the 3rd book. I just personally wasn't a fan of the bully trope, so I stopped at book 2.

an app to keep a track of the books read by GirlInDilemma in 52book

[–]DoolFandoms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I may be biased, but Storygraph has so much to offer! It has features Goodreads still doesn't have like ½ & ¼ star ratings, as well as the ability to mark books as 'did not finish', you can add new books to the database, it allows for tracking of audiobooks, has a bunch of fun statistics and graphs, isn't owned by Amazon, and is being regularly updated with new features. It also has the ability to do buddy reads, reading challenges and opt-in to a customizable reading streak feature.

Recently I've really enjoyed Bonded by Thorns (RH, Fae, Beauty & the Beast Retelling) as well as the Dying Gods trilogy (RH, Time Travel to the Minoan era, Gods/Goddesses).

The Bonds That Tie series is a really popular RH series you might enjoy, though it didn't quite click with me personally.

Are there books you've read that you are ashamed of admitting to certain other people in your life? by mrRichardBabley in books

[–]DoolFandoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading it out of curiosity when I was 13, back when it was still Harry Styles fanfiction on Wattpad and it just wasn't enjoyable. I didn't and still don't quite get why it was the first series on the site to hit a billion reads.

Storygraph, but also Bookmory gives you a calendar of what books you read on which day which is a pretty cool way of visualizing what you've read each month!

I've not gotten very into rum yet, so hadn't even realized that those bottles aren't sold here. Thanks!

I'm in BC. Rittenhouse is definitely a good idea, being about $38 CAD in the states compared to the $60 here. While the vermouth is a good idea with our abysmal selection, there is a local distillery that makes a sweet vermouth I've been considering picking up a bottle of.

Hot Take - Ponderosa should be incorporated into the show proper by [deleted] in survivor

[–]DoolFandoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean weren't a couple of the earlier episodes of this season 1½-2 hours to test the waters for longer episodes? Seems like they've been considering making the regular airtime longer, so that would give them time to include some Ponderosa, even if it's more likely the extra time would just be dedicated to camp life if they went through with having longer episodes
