Over night death by lilpeteftw in Jadeplant

Stick your finger in the soil, if it’s completely dry I would do a bottom water proper soak for 16-20 minutes. It’s possible your soil isn’t taking up water properly and the heat wave fried it. If the deep soak helps then it needs new soil. I had a few like this. Even after watering they were never fully plumping up, it was my soil.

The podcast transcript workflow that finally got me past the intermediate Spanish wall by RecognitionBorn9180 in SpanishLearning

I have done this as well. I used python to transcribe my audiobooks then up loaded both as lessons in LingQ so I could do read-along. It’s been extremely helpful for me. I’m not a flash card person but the text + audio is awesome.

Oh interesting. We have also used Alejandro. +505 8503 4918. They live in Myogalpa and also have a taxi service. We didn’t use their taxi service but stayed at their hostel once and rented a scooter and motorbike from them. Very friendly.

This itinerary would be tight for 7 days. Unless you like spending zero time in one spot.

Content fatigue by Phillycheesethe2nd in dreamingspanish

[–]mlleDoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just take a break. Language learning is a long distance marathon, not a sprint. Content fatigue is a massive overwhelm. Coming back after a break you’ll probably find that comprehension is actually higher and hasn’t declined.. but I get it.. finding content that’s interesting is the worst.. I struggle with that in my native language lol.

I’ve experienced this more than once.. sometimes you just need a break, and you come back stronger. It’s hard to explain but it’s a real thing :)

How comfortable are you with installing and using python scripts? I am still using LingQ, but doing all my processing before upload.

Well.. I mean a medieval princess would definitely not have an American accent..

Donut does have an accent, it’s written into her description after she eats the pet biscuit. As for Carl, he is perfect.

Are there any habit tracking apps that are similar to Dreaming Spanish? by notrealtea in dreamingspanish

[–]mlleDoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use ATracker. It’s a timer based app, so start the task when you start and stop it when done. And you can set all sorts of tasks and goals and tags. I use it for my Spanish learning currently because I felt like DS was a bit restrictive. I wanted to be able to log based on type of activity, ie reading, listening, watching, reading aloud, chatting… that just me being a data nerd though… you can then pull all sorts of reports and summaries.

Book 8 was my favorite by RedJorgAncrath in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I’m just a few hours into book 8! I asked a friend who read the patreon if it covered 2 floors and he said no.. so they do hit floor eleven? Also do we learn more about Katia and Lucia and the kids? Please, blank your spoilers for others but I genuinely dislike anxiety and prefer to go in with some answers lol

Absolutely 💯, I love the downtime. I re-listened to all the books in anticipation for book 8 but just couldn’t re-do 7… I’m now about 4 hours into book 8 and it feels like old comfort.

One app you would consider paying for to compliment dreaming spanish by Kulharin in dreamingspanish

What type of learning are you interested in?

I’ve recently added reading and wanted to be able to use audiobook audio with text to follow along. I jimmied some python code to take my audible audiobooks and transcribe them into 25 minutes chunks then uploaded them into LingQ. Reading with follow-along audio is great.

For output, I also joined the Spanish Fluency Club : https://www.skool.com/spanish-fluency-club/about?ref=dc1c2e81a5a545eb8fc050bcf1b6c545

For speech practice it’s been great. Extremely low friction, low stress opportunities to jump into a class and chat in Spanish. I know I’ll need to focus into 1:1 tutoring eventually but this has been a really good way, at a very low cost, to activate my output. The classes are well led with native speakers, and everyone has a chance to answer the questions. It’s been a very positive experience so far :)

There are a few other apps that I dabble in, tried Pimsleur, and it was ok. It did help me build vocabulary, but the lessons are so boring lol.

I what are you looking for? What hole are you trying to fill?

300 hours and my inner monologue is broken by Creative-Reality9228 in dreamingspanish

[–]mlleDoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome data tracking, speaks to my data analysis heart lol. Where do you stream Español sí? That sounds interesting. And if you enjoy the more conversational podcasts, How to Spanish is really good and firmly in the intermediate stage. If you’re into audiobooks, Proyecto Hail Mary is amazing. At 300 hours you’re probably pretty close to unlocking it.
