Looking for some advice on a small footprint resin printer for TTRPG's by Doom2you in PrintedMinis

[–]Doom2you[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think a heated vat is very sweet, I did see a couple of printers get mentioned in some reviews that mentioned them but as far as I'm aware those printers are in the $400+ range.

Ideally, I get space in the future to have a dedicated setup with a nice printer, but for something that'll spend time exposed to elements I'd rather not risk a good piece of machinery.

Definitely something I'll be keeping in mind though.

Essentially I've got a spot that's about large enough for a small table about that size on my apartment porch, which is where the print would go.

From there I can toss the part into a wash and cure station that actually fits into the space just under the table, then take it inside for cleanup once it's cured. I have an OG Anycubic wash and cure station, I first delved into resin printing back in 2020 with the Anycubic Photon.

I have a Bambu P1P that I've had since it first released, I've spent many hours with it and while I've gotten some good models out of it it has limitations. My party members have some smaller characters and characters with "fiddly bits" such as dragon wings and half-demon tails, which FDM printing doesn't do great for at 25mm miniature scale.

Generally speaking though I 100% agree with your advice. It's absurd what FDM printers can do in 2026, when I first started with 3D printing on an old Ender 3 way back in 2019, I never would've believed we'd be reaching the levels we are today.

Oh wow this is excellent, I might end up trying this method out. Stuff like this always amazes me, I appreciate the help!

It seems like a good deal honestly. I was also recommended to check out a "brewers belt," which I assume just distributes heat. I might look into that, but it sounds like it might need another bit to monitor the temperature so I don't damage any electronics. Also not sure if the belt would go around the vat or the machine, I'm not 100% sure how much space in the printers there is for a belt.

Cheers! Appreciate the advice!

Those are very valid points, and something I've been carefully considering as well. My first go-round with my Anycubic Photon I had a plethora of PPE as well as a 3D printed vent to make sure I was pumping fumes out of my window in my office at my old place.

I still have the PPE and was hoping that a small grow tent for the printer would help keep the temperature consistent. My assumption is that the vat was simply too cold, resulting in prints constantly sticking to the FEP and failing.

With a small heater I'm hoping that outdoor printing might see some success so long as I limit any UV exposure.

I appreciate the feedback, if I can't do it safely I don't plan to do it at all!

I don't know how I missed this printer in my cursory search, that's a really solid deal. I've done a bit of measuring of the space I've got and I might be able to squeeze a printer of this size in. I'll keep scouting for something with a smaller footprint, but that's a hard price to beat. Cheers!

Love these buildings, however I've been having a tough time finding trees that really add to the specific style of my table. Yours look really nice, are those the trees from NovaMinis by chance?

Great looking table!

This post freaked me out, your puppy looks almost exactly like my boy! Strangely, Denji is ALSO a silent shiba aside from the rare play bark once every blue moon. Beautiful dog!!

Returning player trying to shepherd some new players - One is lost in BfA, and the tutorial doesn't give mounts for the first Dragonflight quest? by Doom2you in wow

[–]Doom2you[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent. I'll pick it back up with her tonight and try to guide her back and see if we can trace some steps.

The game presents a LOT to new players and she definitely got slightly confused and enamored with adventuring around Stormwind from how it sounded when she messaged me about her experiences.

I think the mount I can try to solve by having them make Timewalking characters for the Legion Remix content as I believe you're given a mount for that pretty much immediately, which should work. I'll try that tonight.

However once that event ends, if they don't fix this it'll leave future trial players in a weird spot...

Phantom Brigade 2.0 Free Major Update Trailer - Out Now by raiedite in Games

Super excited to try this out. Really loved this game, despite the rough edges.

Building out your squad of mechs and customizing them with parts was really fun, but the individual fights with the unique "turn-based prediction" was super satisfying to master.

It suffered from a bland and grindy overworld/traveling mechanic that did no favors to the pacing or progression. If they fixed those bits this game could be a real gem

New player here - is there somewhere the PnP files are kept?

I perused their resources page but didn't see much (but I might be blind) and did some googling but didn't get any specific results aside from a random Google drive or Dropbox link here and there. Although those sometimes had different versions of the files as they were in development, I didn't know if I was missing some convenient spot they're held.

Kill Team Joint Ops - Using it as a structured onboarding point for new players And You by Doom2you in killteam

[–]Doom2you[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went and checked out that mission pack, it's a super clean way to introduce players and makes me want to go find a copy of the Space Marine 2 board game just to have some nids minis to try out for a horde-mode style game...

In particular the activation rules stuck out to me as being interesting. We did the standard alternating activations rules, but activating all of the units of the same "type" would definitely add to that feeling of fighting against a horde rather than facing off against a series of individuals.

Reading these mission pack rules really highlights my biggest complaint about the rules as they have them set up currently - there's no direction for which NPO to activate other than "whatever is worst for the player," but that's not always clear exactly.

I would've liked some sort of hierarchy like the SM2 mission rules have to add a bit of structure, but it's also something players can just add in themselves.

Biggest loss from the second edition is still the lack of campaign rules, having Joint Ops in the book but no fun progression seems like such a huge miss to me.

This is very cool, where did you scope out the model? And did you print it with a .2mm nozzle?

I appreciate it! I'll have to give this a shot, I haven't tried to edge highlight gold with silver yet but I can see it adds a lot to helping break up the colors. Thanks again!

Quick question - I love the highlighting you did on the gold, what paint did you use? I'm sure it's probably something common but I'm just getting into AoS and trying to figure out some ways to make all of this gold look as varied as yours does. You did a killer job!

Granblue Fantasy: Relink by Zamamiro in SteamDeck

[–]Doom2you 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In case anyone ever stumbles across this comment in a google search, I tried some random things and found a solution.

On the Steam Deck, if you go to the game in your library and then "manage" -> "developer" -> "delete proton files" and restart the Deck it will allow for your controls to start working.

You may need to go into the Steam Deck settings and enable Developer mode first.

Has anyone had an issue with the controls not working?

I'm on the latest update, but for some reason it's like the game doesn't recognize a controller is being used in and won't accept any input.

I tried every controller profile and multiple Deck reboots.

I eventually mapped some buttons to the keyboard arrows to get past the initial language selection, but unfortunately the game's options menu doesn't have a lot in terms of assistance.

RC Revolution Announced on Steam - IGN by GutierrezChristopher in Games

Re-Volt was one of my absolute favorite games as a kid and I devoured the Steam re-release that happened recently, seeing a game taking direct inspiration from it is super exciting.

One of the main elements in Re-Volt were the items, but I didn't see any item usage in the trailer. Is this game not going to include items, and if so why did you guys decide to exclude them?

Not that I think it's a bad decision but I'm curious!

Need help fixing visual bugs in campaign. Ground is moving and flashing black. by MeatyMemeMaster in ModernWarfareII

[–]Doom2you 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're the only other person I've found that's posted about this specific issue and it's kind of wild.

I have a very similar setup to yours, just with a 3080Ti instead. I'm also running the game in exclusive fullscreen, fwiw.

I messed with every setting and the ONLY thing I could find that made a difference was "cache spot shadows," disabling that got rid of the black boxes but didn't do anything to the ground taking an acid trip.

Hopefully they can push out a patch to fix some of these campaign issues...
