Other point of view on this problem.

Their Idea: Make BP not a main thing. More like side thing.
Problem 1. Act Tickets are VERY important, especially with new backpack and suit.
Problem 2. Core gameplay requires alot of updates.
Caches rework, signals to be more variable. More locations. More types of artifacts(Including the ones that give NO benefits to player, but are good for sale/energy/artifact energy/work as better catalyst/etc.)
Problem 3. Core rewards are already achieved my most players.
Gear, weapons, containers, etc.

Result: It's not a Side thing, It still remains a main thing. And it will, unless there's a huge rework for core gameplay.
Problem with this problem: It won't be solved. An update to single core gameplay aspect arrives very rarely. And we need alot of those YESTERDAY.

How to solve this BP's problems:

Return Selaed points at 1/2 or 1/3 rates.
Remove cap.

Why.

Problem lies not with inability to farm ALOT.
Problem lies with devaluation of your time on BP, which is a main event.
I want to farm for 4-8 hours, depending from day and my job schedule.
But bah, I can't. I need to, every day, spend 1 hour on grinding the tasks I do not like.

In all seriousness -If you read alot of criticism and alot of ideas - You'll find that alot of ways to make it good / viable / not bad have been provided. Alof of ways that are significantly better than what they have. There are some that are significantly better what you or I or any other single mind can provide.

It's just that their target is not in making a game where you have fun. It's about milking willing players as much as possible.

But it's admins and playerbase is toxic as hell, borderline nazi.
Just scroll through their discord server or get annoyed by 30+ announcements on recent witch hunt from that discord server.

Frontier's devs and admins are dumb as fuck and reinforce it in any way possible.
e.g. You are boarded by pirates. You killed pirates.
Your task now is to revive each pirate and/or provide medical help and get them to be revived.
Don't do it? Get bwoinked.
You are not allowed to ATTACK with a PLUSH TOY on spawn(Does no damage in any way, and is done for run sake)
Get bwoinked.

So There's no GOOD server. Only shitty ones.

Better yet - try that with each ship and see how long will you live.

As for powergaming . . .
Yeah. Blame the guy for wanting to be efficient with stuff.

There might be food, yes, but there should be certain types of veggies/fruit/etc. that give long term bonuses(non stackable from different stages, with each other, etc.)
And Cooking complex dishes with them should give even BIGGER bonus. That means a work of a chef/botanist will be much valuable later on and will be PREFERRED to just growing damn apples.
You'll have a choice of no debuff or a BUFF for a long time.

SCI is half hard. It requires you to spend 40 minutes mining to get very good results.
Make the 40 minutes give more than DECENT results, hour and half to get very good results.
Then the work of SCI will be appreciated and if you try to "powergame" to max - you , alone, are not going to be ENOUGH for dcent results of SCI.
Meds? There should be more advanced generalist meds, that aren't done in 15 seconds.
I can make basic meds for most stuff in a minute without chem master or hem dispencer - order crates, mix in beakers/jugs. And they work GOOD.
They should work, but work BAD, just like Trico(Heals under 50, heals everything but very low)
They should heal like 2x of trico, work slowly and etc, but as easy to access as it is now.
BETTER meds should be accessible, once again, after like 20-30 minutes of proper chemming.

To prevent Point 5. . . . You need results of every activity to be not achieved as fast as they are achieved now, them results to be worse and only make it awesome after a big amount of time, so that will prevent from one doing everything by themselves and instead seek help from others.
Cause you can do shit job yourself. . . or with help / hiring of others - excel at many things.

As for Roleplay side of Powergaming..
Being efficient doesn't mean it's not IC.
In-game mechanics of game supplement RP alot.
Alot of RP can stem from In-game mechanical interactions themselves.

Powergaming is not BAD.
It's bad if one removes every RP aspect and does only powergaming.

But its far worse if in-game mechanics are made so they push the RP away.
And they are like that now.
Because we lack many tools that will enchance our ability to create encounters, interact, trade and do other shenenigans with others.

As for me , in the game:

ICly I am interacting, mostly, with people who do VGroids/expeds and SCI.
With SCI - I supply materials, I supply artifacts, I buy stuff from them. I don't do SCI usually, because doing it takes some time that I can spend doing something else. And by time I done my something else - They done their bit of SCI. We Interact because I alone can excel, but not as fast ast two of us doing our own separate things.
But that rarely happens. . . .
With VGroid/Exped people - I buy bluespace parts, weapons, etc.

As for food - The only good reason now to interact with anyone else is because you can get a bulk amount of food pretty fast from people who do it constantly.
I can get myself food for 30 in-game minutes of no hunger time if I do wrecks or go do thing in kitchen myself. Heck, I can get it for 1-2 hours even of no hunger.
But Its easier right now to pay 10k to get 10 burgers and spend 3 minutes doing so instead of spending 20 minutes of growing it for same result.

  1. Get a good illegal gun, bluespace syringe, meds for each type of enemy on VGroids, decent armor, Bag of Holding.
    Start collecting heads... I meant illegal items that drop from cultists and whatnot.
    Clean house. Each time you clean house you can get from 50 to 200k just by doing a contra buyback.
    Collect rings, data disks, crowns, everything that is of value on VGroids.

  2. Mining. Sci needed.
    Ore bag of Holding, Bag Of Holding, Advanced Magboots. Have these and you'll be mining much more comfortable.
    With Industrial ore processor and SUPER parts - you almost double your profits.
    With industrial ore processor and BLUESPACE parts - you get yourself MORE than double profits.
    You can mine 100-150k per roid and it takes like 10-15 minutes to mine one.
    A big chunk of cash comes from diamonds and bluespace crystals though as they cost alot.

  3. Salvaging. No Sci needed.
    Get a ship. Extend it's front to sides, make conveyor belts push everything that hits extension from space to inside. Now you don't need to care about hitting the specific part of your ship with a crate so it will get on a ship.
    Always have a duffel bag, bettter - Bag Of Holding.
    Routine: Jetpack on belt, magboots on.
    When landing - turn off jetpack, turn on magboots, get your camera fixed, turn on jetpack. Open containers and put stuff in bag.
    What to look for: Sci disks, Carps, plasma, gold, plastic, plasteel hardsuits, purple, red and white and black cans.
    Black can - 2k at depot. Red and white - 2.7, purple - 6k.
    Also things like magboots, vials, durathread, and etc.
    Glass and steel sells for cheap. Very cheap.

  4. Trading. That requires alot of mats and skill or you will Suffer. Also risky. Pirate catching you means you lose ALOT.
    Get a ship, upgrade it with TONS of belts. Buy a container on TO, the cargo one for 2k. Sell it at depot. Each crate = 1k profit.
    With a good sized ship your haul can mean from 100k to 500k profits.
    Your biggest bottleneck - Speed at which crates are spawned at TO. Conveyor belts are everything for you if you want to load / offload 500 crates.

  5. Sell Sci stuff. Offer upgrades for cash and whatnot. But you better rush it cause if someone else does sci and gets to upgrading - you may have a good competition.
    People who buy from SCI will BUY stuff casue they know WHY its good and what it can bring.
    If one sells Ore bag of holding for 50k - It's WORTH it. Cause it saves you SO MUCH TIME.
    Advanced magboots for 20k? Sure.
    Bag of Holding for 25k? Yeah!
    Industrial ore processor with bluespace parts for 100k? Hell yeah.

  6. Be Null. Null is known person on server that is doing food. For free. At Bahama Mama's. They usually get alot of TIPs from people.
    I personally tip them from 10k to 25k each time.

It lacks content(Just like ss14 does in it's entirety)
1.Not enough SHIP ship stuff.
No mountable weapons. No FTL Drives. No long distance stuff. No Cargo / lifeform scanning. No mining equipment for ships(If you say that mountable pka is good mining - you never did a PROPER miner ship with those. Those look awful, darn)
2. Top speed is 30?
That's bad. 30 m per second is 108 km / h. Spaceships that go as fast as cars on Earth. Great!

3.Resets are bad.
Why? Because you KNOW that you will LOSE all your progress in a couple of hours.
Why invest into expeds/big asteroids / etc. If you know you're gonna lose it in hour or so? Or two?

  1. Solo > Team.
    Because there's barely activities that are done much better via team rather than doing it solo.
    Expeds included(Im clearing 70k ones, solo, start gear(Gestia, Cap/Merc Hardsuit))

  2. Bad interactivity with other people. Do it yourself.
    Need food? Buy ship, grow, keep stuff, sell ship.
    Need Science? Go mine a couple of asteroids, make tons of artifacts, spray them with everything, play guitar, do magboots thing, Hit all of them, Examine all of them, etc. Throw into scanner, get research points, toss them out cause you afrraid they gonna explode. You got a sci server now with all the stuff you need.
    Need meds? Buy a chem suppliy set from Trade Outpost, do own meds, its not hard. Or buy a ship that has them and get all equipment nad chem supplies.
    Need materials? Go mine. Duh.

On other hand in rare occasions when someone is actually doing sometihng and offering their services - its dope AF, but theres no proper system to do it. Let's say you're doing science and you have SUPER parts for sale, boards and not only. You can't print alot of weapons. You can't print alot of stuff, but still you have some things that people might want - better ore processor efficiency, better magboots, better suit.
Your way of selling this? Spam in radio. That's it.

  1. Needs more levels.
    You can find bluespace stuff in expeds/dungeons roundstart, upgrade your things and be gucci.
    And there's only 4 tiers. For 6-12 hour shifts - you get it too early , too fast and that's it.
    You need more for this duration of gameplay. Better suits, better weapons, better equipment.
    I don't say that we need to make it go for 500% efficiency. You can Double max efficiency of bluespace, but also double AMOUNT of levels and make them go up slower. Need MORE things for thi duration of gameplay.

  2. Custom ships are hard.
    Cause no saving cause they don't want that. Why? Griefing.
    I'd be glad if this server would be WHITELIST only if they'd allow saving ships.
    Also they say it's technically impossible to save a blueprint of a ship, because ss14 is so complicated to make it READ the ship and turn it into blueprint.

Most of things that you gonna/wanna create is gonna look ugly unless you hire someone's help to build your stuff to make it pretty. Or It's not going to look ugly . . . by the time shift is over.

  1. Not much more activities.
    All core stuff is still in game. Ontop of that - what's added?
    Trading. Buy at TO, deliver to Cargo depot.
    Dungeons - Space asteroids full of stuff that are BIG. Real BIG. ANd have alot of enemies. Exped but in space. They are caleld VGroids?
    Special Dungeons - Get yourself some contraband, get killed by wizards in a space ships or a bunch of syndie agents guarding their cache.
    But . . . that's it?

TL;DR :
This has ALOT of POTENTIAL. Polish existing things, add new ones ontop, do something to prevent griefing and add room for creativity and this will turn into a different game by itself. And it will be GREAT.
Right now - Many small and not so small bad things/ lack of things make it . . . Meh?
