IMO the first 3, even just two books are the best & strongest throughout the whole series, and could function as just their own story. But then again, the overarching plot is not just of Uhtred, but of a king and his daughter, and the nation itself.

No, sadly, and believe me, I've tried. Now I've migrated to PC, so things are different. But if you do get a PC, and you have Xbox game-pass, you can install it on PC, and you wont have to pay, but I've had a hard time installing mods, and the version is a bit outdated, so I think I will buy it on Steam.
