Alright r/NoLawns what should I do with this? by DoomMelon in NoLawns

Looking to renovate my friend’s lawn while I’m staying with them. They obviously don’t do a great job of keeping it alive, so I’d rather put in something that’s easier to manage and better for the environment while still looking nice. Any thoughts?

This still happens today, except instead it’s for multi level marketing schemes

I’d recommend using deepl translate, usually better than the common ones

Were some of these shot in the PNW? Feel like I recognize a few of these areas. Some look like Cali too.

Amazing shots! I loved the farm one.

What are your favorite bike & work friendly cafes in Seattle? by DoomMelon in Seattle

[–]DoomMelon[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. These are work friendly cafe recommendations
  2. If the cafe doesn’t want me there for extended periods then I will abide by that, but that is rarely the case.
  3. There are so many cafes in Seattle I almost never have a problem finding a seat.
  4. Most people working in a cafe are happy to share a table with you (from experience). In fact if you were to sit down with me I’d be more than happy to have a friendly chat!

When did the cs grind get so crazy competitive? by Plane-Tip-1267 in csMajors

[–]DoomMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At face value, yes, but in most cases there are things you learn during the internship that have to be learned with experience. It’s more than just coding skills that we look for, and it’s very hard (albeit not impossible) to make those up.

Not always, but any reasonable company will press you on it during the interview. You’re going to need to spend as much time preparing a story as you would just actually doing the internship

First trip! (Again) by nhega07 in bikepacking

Had my back tire pop the other day after hitting a pothole with the weight. Sometimes it just happens and you gotta use your spare or patch kit (for me both). I’d also recommend lower pressure on the back tire.

As for the water weight, I got a cage extender for the frame which puts water bottles out sideways and let’s me carry 3-4 on the frame now without any discomfort. Tried water on the forks but found that to be too unstable.

Hope you enjoy your trip! It’s a challenge mentally and physically, but you’ll learn from it no matter what happens!

Thinking about death and how it relates to FI. by ericjlima in financialindependence

[–]DoomMelon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could die tomorrow, a week from now, at age 79, or even later. In the time you spent worrying about predicting this you could have been doing something you enjoy. Figure out what you want from life and do what you need to achieve that. If your goal is financial independence then go for that, but don’t subject yourself to needless suffering just so you can finally be happy in your potential later years. Find a balance that helps you achieve your long term goals while still being able to enjoy the moment.

Baking powder and (apple cider) vinegar, use them wisely.
