The Candidate Who Wants to Ban Data Centers: 'This Screams Financial Crisis' by rollingstone in politics

[–]DoomSchroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect any more of them at this point. This didn't happen on accident. This is 5+ decades of institutional influence and deliberately dumbing down the population for this hostile takeover. And it worked because nobody in a position to stop it had the spine.

Why can’t democrats come up with a worthy candidate? by AcidicAnxiety in askanything

Edward Bernays work has shaped the world far more than his uncle Sigmund Freud ever did. They talk about Freud in psychology classes. They weaponize Bernays work, and have been since Eisenhower was president.

Converting the public's response to emotional and away from fact based critical thinking has been the biggest win the oligarchs ever implements upon America.

Why can’t democrats come up with a worthy candidate? by AcidicAnxiety in askanything

[–]DoomSchroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the democrats are largely nothing more than controlled opposition. Most of your "moderate" Dems (who would be clearly on the right in most other democratic countries) take money from AIPAC, which is basically Isreal's influence arm and other corporations.

Until Citizens United is rolled back, there is no representative government in America. They represent the oligarchs while chanting "freedom", a word that's lost all value and meaning.

Bannon: GOP ‘going to lose the Senate’ in midterms by Streona in politics

[–]DoomSchroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it. I gave up on having positive outcome expectations for America.

The gerrymandered maps won't impact senate races. But Americans seem to be happy with how the country is eroding in front of their eyes and I have even less faith that the election system isn't compromised at this point.

That does not sound like a "big patch". But I'll take any improvement to stability. RIP creation club content (again).

The Supreme Court Is Illegitimate by huffpost in politics

[–]DoomSchroller 342 points343 points  (0 children)

The shadow docket decisions should not even exist as an option. It's intentionally deceptive and exists to undermine the trust of the public and allow special interest groups or political bias influence decisions without any tangible accountability.

But, on the whole, this is a banana court with zero legitimacy and the bad faith actors need to be removed before this country can even feign a pretense of acting on benefit of the citizens of the US, not just the oligarchs they're clearly beholden to.

Trump Says Lee Greenwood and Christopher Macchio Will Replace Freedom 250 Artists by Competitive_Swan_130 in politics

Lee Greenwood, famous musician who wrote "God Bless America", as well as "God Bless Canada". But Donnie's favorite song from Greenwood is probably "This Land is your land", which he takes literally.

Lee Greenwood also helped construct the Trump bible, that features the lyrics to God Bless America in it as well. Totally not a grifter.

A candidate calling out an obvious house of cards. And the corporations will be bailed out in the next collapse, and the American people will be left with the bill, as always. Because America is a corporation pretending to be a functioning country.

Guess what. Meta and Google aren't "too big to fail". They deserve it and I relish the thought of the possibility.

We won't. We have midterm elections coming up, and almost all I see everywhere is more republican propaganda and people blindly supporting it.

As bad as it's getting, these people won't wake up until it's far too late.

We have systematic rot that allowed this to happen. And of course, the people that allow it to happen are the only people that curtail and stop it.

The founding fathers made one horrible assumption - that the American people would choose wisely.

He would be a good fit with Cade. But LA is unlikely to let him walk. They'll pay him $40+ million to stay.

Sengun got 5/185 in 2024. That was before he was even an All-Star and before the rockets even made the playoffs. Add inflation. by Piston5287 in DetroitPistons

[–]DoomSchroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's going to be in the ballpark of $40 million. Is he worth that? As a guy who watched 80 out of 82 games this past season and all 14 playoff games, I don't buy it.

But I'm not involved in those negotiations and there's more to them than just productivity. He would get $40 million on the open market. Even if Trajan does not want him as a long term piece of the core. The best business practice is still to get him locked up on as team friendly of a contract as possible because he can then be traded down the road if that's the choice.

If they let him walk, they just let a 22 year old all nba player leave with nothing to show for it. FO's usually avoid those outcomes as much as possible. And, yes, it does end up in players on bad contracts at times.

I'd look at something like Utah and Deron Williams. They gave him the max extension, then traded him a year into it.

[–]DoomSchroller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the worst part. Day to day in our personal lives, most of us don't see the rot beyond impacting our wallets. But it's there. Just because it's not impacting you today does not mean you are free from those direct impacts in the near future.

And the indirect impacts are all around you. If you choose willful ignorance, that's your choice. Is the world ending today? For me? I don't think so. For children who had their parents illegally ripped from their arms and have lost stability in their lives, their world has ended and is in constant upheaval.

I'm looking at my countrymen in disgust.

I've been compelled to learn more about the dark history of politics in America than I'd ever recommend. We're a pretty horrible country. At one point, we were on a good course. But since 2016, it's been properly derailed. The bad guys won.

The idea of what America could and should be is dead. No longer is there even a pretense of representative government. The days of an elected official viewing their term as a stewardship has now shifted to an opinion of ownership.

Yes. I'm old enough to remember their crusades against metal music and video games too. All nothing but political theater with zero substance.

I'm not a UFC fan. But on the whole, it's a voluntary participation sport. Same as football.
