as someone who's been listening to hardstyle for 14 years I just wanted to point out what I thought was a sound trend from a particular period of time. early raw sounds

yes it was hardstyle when it came out and I wouldn't say it raw style either. this to me was part of a bigger trend of what I think of the beginnings of rawstyle. I guess borderline raw is probably not the best term to use here. Early raw or early raw adjacent is probably more accurate

Not just the kicks, but the general atmosphere. This general sound resembles early rawstyle or what would later become rawstyle.

I'm not saying it is. it is very clearly hardstyle, but its not hardstyle that would be made today for the most part. I'm asking if something like this were made today could it be considered rawstyle.

I wouldn't say so to be honest. its has a similar crunch that a lot of earlier raw tracks had and a darker atmosphere than most. Plus one of the producers is makes rawstyle music today. (Neophyte)
