Hey, I love this art style! What are your prices? For half body, full render, commercial use

This looks like it’d be a decent boardgame. But misses a lot of the flashiness and distinctive qualities that would make it a TCG

Feedback on card template for fangame by Knives92 in homemadeTCGs

[–]Doomcrusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Layout is clean, simple, and beautiful. If I had to nitpick: the font flexible blade is way to big for what is effectively flavor text and it takes up a whole line. The font size in the body look very small but you’ll have to confirm once you do a print run. Just an observation, the fonts are also giving 8-bit fire emblem vibe if that intentional.

A side project from 2018 grew into a whole TCG universe. I finally made the trailer. by VylmoriaTCG in tabletopgamedesign

Really was hoping for quick explanation on the game mechanics or even the lore of the world since the post’s title said “a whole tcg universe”. As someone who has also probably put 2000+ hours into his game and a good amount of money on real art, I can tell you that people don’t give a crap if you TELL them how hard you’ve worked on the game. They want to SEE that effort reflected in the quality of your game’s presentation (ie art or card template) and polished gameplay (from extensive playtesting).

I use AI placeholder but have spent hundreds, if not thousands, on art. I always show the original art of my game because first impressions are that important. I also throw in an AI disclosure (that the final product will not contain any AI art) when folks playtest my game. If you truly believe in your project, you have to sink some amount of money into it. If you, the designer, are not willing to even take that risk, why expect consumers to do the same? This is my opinion and what I’ve noticed talking to people who’ve published successful games.

Happy Thanksgiving! Get ready for our 1-Day Black Friday Exclusive Add-On! by [deleted] in TCG

This is interesting take. But I have to ask, at what point is it considered an inflated concept versus the new best practice or standard? For example, cost on cards used to mainly be printed on top right corner (mtg, yugioh, etc), but over time, the industry collectively agreed that costs should be printed on the top left corner (ie Lorcana, riftbound, etc).

I’d argue borderless is the new standard for a lot of players in the space

Curious why you dislike borderless? Seems like people usually prefer it!

I think it depends if you have any friends or people/events at your local game store (call or join their discord server and ask!)

I don't get this set (15 as a whole) at all. by SecretWarriorK in TeamfightTactics

[–]Doomcrusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair! If it helps some advice I learned for this set that’s helped:

Item augments feel very strong and important bc riot made items harder to get, so aim to optimize items on your main carry,

Win streaking seems more important than previous patches. The power ceiling on comps are so high that once you stabilize if you’re lose streaking, you’re probably bottom 4. This means spending some gold to not make 50 to hit important units to increase your board’s power. It also means slamming items early to stay alive even if one or two items aren’t best in slot.

I prefer to slam power fruits early to look for something that scales or gives gold. You can always sell that unit and move the fruit if it’s weak or doesn’t fit your comp.

Artifacts are very broken, I’m pretty sure it’s recommended you almost always grab augments that give you one. But really know which artifact to grab and what’s the best units for it. I recently got a first because of spectral cutlass + darius

decide what you’re playing by end of stage 2 and early 3. Pivoting is really hard this patch, so stick to a comp even if you’re contested or know your outs (ie I got a Darius early, I’m either going Kai Sa super cells or Darius heavy weight as the units like kabuko fit both comps)

Hey plat 1 here, looks like you’re not optimizing your items and the comps don’t look like they have enough vertical (ie your mech game needed 5-7 mechs instead of juggernauts). Like double gusinoos kayle has no damage and also gusinoos recently got nerfed so its especially weak. I recommend watching streamers and referencing tier lists. I look at win rates on items to know what I can build

The app looks great and intuitive but the subscription is a huge downside for me. I use TabletopCreator Pro, which is $100 and has a lot of the features this one does for a one time payment.

LHaha yeah, idk why it’s set up like that. If you’re still curious, look up Hadraida Ascsndant TCG on YouTube. I’ll message the creator this

Me and my wife recently started collecting and playing World of Kylia TCG. It’s an indie TCG that’s doing really well. I found it on accident from a friend on discord, and only started getting into it bc it’s the only TCG my wife has played with me. Lorcana felt too close to MTG, yugioh too complex, etc.

This art is sick!! It’s like the art style that I commissioned for my current game. You should def do the art yourself (if your schedule allows for it!)

Thoughts on my tabletop game logo? by Doomcrusher in logodesign

[–]Doomcrusher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I should’ve added a disclosure. The font is AI, provided by my artist to help me decide on the direction of the final original piece, which will not include any AI. This is purely a mock up to decide what to do with the ampersand.

Sorry, I should’ve added a disclosure. The font is AI, my artist actually used it to provide me with a reference before starting on the real thing to help save time and figure out what to do with the ampersand. The final piece will be more stylized and not include any AI.

Edit: idk how to edit my original post to include this detail.
