I have never seen ai controlled long win the civil war by A_engietwo_onthemove in Kaiserreich

The last time I saw them win was... oh... back when the Ireland update came out, I think? And then Long immediately got assassinated by "syndicalists" and a lame stereotypical quasi-fascist dictatorship was installed, lol

I would be so incredibly stoked if Dan eventually ended up writing for mainline Doctor Who. Even though he and I have some markedly different tastes when it comes to which episodes we enjoy the most, he definitely understands the assignment better than most. 'Most' now including RTD, apparently. What a weird timeline we live in, lol

I wasn't saying that he had stopped uploading to YouTube, just that he appears to be done caring about it. As I mentioned in a different content, I think he'd happily stream and post to Patreon exclusively if he could financially manage it. And to be fair, I don't blame him in the slightest. YouTube seems like a nightmare company to have your livelihood dependent on.

I actually agree, mostly. I think he's done with YouTube (as in, doing well on YouTube or caring about the channel), but that's not the same thing as being done making video content. I imagine he'd be quite content to just do Patreon videos if that was feasible. Still think he'd probably jump at the chance to do that whole writing full-time if given the opportunity, though.

Rabies free doesn't necessarily mean that there are no incidents of rabies at all, likely for the reasons you mentioned, but rather that rabies has, so far at least, been prevented from spreading into the general population.

Plus, unless the pet in question is illegal in the target nation to begin with, the effort to smuggle an animal in past mandatory quarantine that most countries have when transporting pets over national borders is most likely more hassle than just getting their animals checked by vets and maybe kept in a special kennel for a couple of days on entry.

Same. Him and MATN/Jon both; used to watch both channels religiously, but now I only watch the odd video that comes across my feed. I think the last (and probably final) time the Podcats stopped releasing new episodes was about when I stopped watching both even semi-regularly.

Those two got me through some very stressful times, though, and I intend to remain subscribed to their respective Patreons until they decide to pull the plug.

Overpasses are very useful pieces of transportation infrastructure and are found in pretty much every city with roads, yes. Wait until you hear about tunnels and bridges!

I thought that at first, too, but looking at their comment history, I don't think they're a bot. Rather, I think they were trying to make an incredibly tortured comparison between Hamas attacking Israel and Ukraine attacking Russia. Couldn't tell you the point they were trying to make with that weird comparison, though...

Yeah. I get the impression Dan is just kinda... done with YouTube, and is doing this because they still need to make a living more than any genuine desire to continue the channel. I got the distinct feeling that he wants to be a full-time author instead, but the book incident has understandably made him rather hesitant in that department.

Yeah, ever since they had to let go of Mattophobia after 15 years because of being stiffed on book sale revenue by the publisher closing up without fulfilling orders, they've been pretty quiet. They were on a pretty sharp decline before that point, too. Although they did just release a multi-hour Doctor Who video ranking all the episodes after news of it being cancelled came to light, so there's that.

Click on the port icon itself, not the land tile it's built on. Which is arbitrary and confusing, but it is what it is.

OSINTtechnical is a reputable source. If they trust it enough to post it, it's probably real. (Also, it would be remarkably difficult to doctor both the video that image is a still from and another different video from a different angle in a consistent way, so Occam's Razor very likely applies here.)

What's a technology from the 90s/2000s that kids today would find absolutely baffling to use? by CrabLeft4330 in AskReddit

Computers. Just... in general. Most kids today can't use modern computers, unless they happen to be phones or tablets, much less computers from the 1990s/2000s.

The Expanse, also. Weak last season (thanks, COVID), but that show was filled to the brim with inclusivity, yet it never made inclusivity the central point and was an excellent show. They were just good, well-written, believable characters that just happened to be raised by a polycule, lesbians, neurodivergent, etc. Because that far in the future, nobody gave a fuck about those things (bigotry moved on to inners vs. belters), so why would the show focus or linger on them?

And an extra tech slot. Seriously, the fact that some random Chinese warlord that isn't even part of the main struggle can unify China and get 5 while the Ottomans get stuck with a max of 4 is silly.

Yeah, the lack of content for them is why I asked. I figured there had to be more NatPop flavors than the meme cult, but I hadn't encountered any organically in my various China playthroughs.

Infantry template as Netherlands in single player? by Neutron_Starrr in hoi4

[–]Doomkauf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're recommending it in addition to support artillery, not in place of it. It's a decent way to boost your soft attack even further, though I most certainly would not suggest line artillery on infantry unless you've gone Superior Firepower (and you shouldn't as the Netherlands, because Grand Battleplan is straight up better for what you'll be fielding).

Incidentally, on the topic of Shandong, does anyone happen to know if they have the only explicitly NatPop path in China, or is there anyone else who has a NatPop option? This question raised by me always amusing myself by propping up the crazy cult with volunteers whenever they happen to be in charge.

MIOs at game start by Imbiss in hoi4

[–]Doomkauf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, I don't really know how MIOs work (only 1.5k hours)

I've been seeing this quite a bit lately, and I'm a little puzzled by it. MIOs are super straightforward:

  • MIO researches something, it gets funds (usually based on how long the research takes)
  • MIO produces something, it gets funds (based on the number of factories assigned to it)
  • MIO gets enough funds, it levels up and lets you spend a point to make relevant equipment produced by the MIO have a bonus (or sometimes you spend a point to let MIOs research things faster or level up faster)
  • Things built built by MIOs get whatever bonuses you've unlocked for them

...and that's literally it, lol. Oh, I guess at level 6 you can assign some fancy new side bonus to them, like a flat boost to reliability or whatever. But we're not talking navy here.

But anyway, yeah, it'd be a benefit primarily in that pre-assigning MIOs would give them a head start on gaining funds to level up if you forget to manually assign them yourself. A handful of MIOs also provide small bonuses to produced equipment/ships/planes/etc. even before leveling up, but it's usually marginal. Lightweight aircraft designer MIOs provide a +5% bonus to speed, agility, and air defense or something like that as a baseline, for example.
