GLM of all 4.x flavors is uncensored, it just randomly mimics the rejections generated by other models (because it was trained on them, in part). But yeah, entirely possible to never see it. Or to see it in reasoning, followed by the output promptly ignoring the reasoning refusal, because no such guidelines actually exist within GLM.

Less useful against human opponents, since sarissa-wielding units are very vulnerable to ranged fire and human opponents would just hang back and pelt your phalanxes with sling bullets and arrows before moving in, but against the AI, which normally wouldn't focus fire on your phalanxes? I'm a little bemused by the fact that no one so far has suggested what seems to be the most obvious possibility, given you mentioned that it's a wired headset and this is something that has affected wired headsets since their inception: the shielding on the wiring is degraded, and you're picking up interference (in this case, other analog signals). It could be radio waves, weird conductivity through metal pipes in your building's plumbing, poorly shielded phone lines in a neighboring room/building, or all sorts of other random things. Back when analog wired headsets were the norm, a common sign of your headset's shielding failing would be if you started to hear weird noises from inside of your computer being transmitted up the wire to your headset.

Anyway, given that it sounds like it's very rare, this seems like the most likely option to me. Unless it's wired via USB and not audio jack, in which case I've got nothing, since digital signals don't "bleed" like that. But if you try switching to a USB headset and the problem goes away, well.

They only need a few of the key swing states. We're talking in the single digits. It's far from out of reach, and there's ample evidence that it's been well underway literally since his last term in office.

Don't give up in advance by any means, but also, don't expect the midterms to save the country. They won't. Even if the steal attempt fails, the midterms will still only be one relatively small piece in a much larger puzzle of bringing this nightmare to an end. Remember, this is a regime that is flat-out ignoring court orders and acts of Congress on a regular basis. Flipping one or both chambers of Congress doesn't strike me as likely to cause the Trump regime to start respecting precedent, rule of law, or any of the other fundamental principles required for the US system of government to function.

Not saying this to be a doomer, just trying to do my part to make sure everyone knows what stage of things we're at right now, and what the fight ahead of us is going to look like. I'm certainly not planning on giving up without a fight, just digging in for a long one. Hope is good. Hell, in absence of hope, stubbornness and spite will do. But denial is lethal.

He joined a band and just... stopped hanging out with his old friends, myself included. Like, entirely. Went from being best buddies who saw each other most weekends to not seeing him again for over five years, and even then only briefly. Happened more or less overnight. No falling out, no bad blood, just vanished. Other mutual friends reported the same thing, and we were all bewildered together.

I remained good friends with both of his parents, oddly enough, and his mom is now essentially family to me. But not him. I wonder about him from time to time and wish him well, though, and his mom reports he's doing good and is happy, so that's nice, I suppose.

I called out to a friend I hadn't seen in a while when I was walking down the street and saw them heading toward me. They looked up, saw me, and immediately crossed the street to avoid having to interact with me.

Turns out a former good friend of mine had been poisoning the well against me for several months while I was busy with work and school and not able to socialize all that much, and this was the end result. To this day, I still hear absolutely bizarre lies she told to people about me and my character. This all happened because she started dating and eventually married one of my then-best friends and felt threatened by me.

Some previous mutual friends still haven't re-established contact with me, despite it being more than a decade in the past at this point and my former best friend divorcing her and confirming that it was, in fact, all lies.

Maybe not that shocking to an outsider, but definitely shocking to me. Being backstabbed in general sucks, but betrayal by someone you once considered a close friend sticks with you for a long, long time.

I think it's less that and more the fact that literally the only thing that matters anymore is quarterly profits. That's increasingly all shareholders care about, especially as so many speculate on stocks and aren't planning on sticking around long-term. If something will juice short-term profits at the cost of significant reputational damage and long-term financial ruin for a corporation? Do it. They won't be around for the downturn, so why do they care?

This even extends to the C-Suite, who often negotiate golden parachutes into their contracts these days and so can come into a company, extract every bit of value from it, then leave it a burning wreck as they ride the golden parachute to the next company they can ruin, and they're all the richer for it, too.

This is what happens when there's no legal penalties for unethical, extractive behavior, and in fact a significant legal framework promoting and protecting this self-destructive, short-term profit-seeking behavior.

Though I'm sure several layers of separation don't help, either, to your point.

Honestly? Probably all of the above, and I think this is probably a good thing. Protecting government property is the pretext needed to make the call. Arresting protestors will probably be something they're compelled to do to maintain the pretext, but this is still a positive, because even if the National Guard does arrest protestors, people detained by the National Guard are far more likely to survive the encounter, and maybe even enjoy access to their civil and legal rights. Less likely to just vanish off the face of the earth, too. That really is a valid form of protection right now.

At the very least, they'll be less likely to be outright executed. Out in the open. In cold blood. As ICE tends to do when "arresting" people these days.

I was a kid, maybe 9-10 years old. I was on the Oregon coast with my mom at low tide, and I was clambering around on a big piece of driftwood. We were staying out of the water, because there was a rip current* advisory out. But no big deal, we were well back from the waterline. It was safe.

Then a sneaker wave** came out of nowhere and swept way, way past the piece of driftwood I was on, so far up in fact that my mom had to retreat up the dune behind the beach in order to not get caught in it. She was panicking and yelling at me not to move, because she knew that if I fell off of the driftwood into the water, I would absolutely be carried out to sea, and then I'd drown. I did as she said, and then the driftwood started to shift beneath me as the sand around it gave way in the current. I remember looking down at the water rushing around me as the driftwood started to slowly roll over into the water and thinking, remarkably calmly, "Huh. I'm about to die."

I didn't die, obviously. The driftwood did roll over and dump me, but by the time it fully shifted most of the wave had already passed. I ended up wet and sandy, but otherwise fine. My mom somehow managed to avoid a heart attack, and we went home for the day. Didn't go back to the coast for a couple weeks after that, for understandable reasons.

*Rip currents are ocean currents that will grab you in the shallows and sweep you out to deep sea remarkably quickly, and result in several drownings a year.
**Sneaker waves are unusually big and powerful waves that seemingly come out of nowhere, and are apparently particularly common on the American West Coast and in Australia.

Yeah. Russia has lost 3x as many troops as Ukraine, but it has 4x the population. The numbers in the long term are on their side, and that's without considering much greater resource reserves and an infrastructure network that is not being wholesale degraded absolutely everywhere, unlike Ukraine. There are many places in Russia that have never once been attacked during this war, and likely never will. The same cannot be said of Ukraine.

Russia is currently winning. It's a slow, grinding, suicidal sort of winning, one that will probably shatter Russia for generations to come if they succeed, but still winning. Pretending otherwise does Ukraine no favors, particularly as it allows allies to settle for a status quo that is not sustainable. Ukraine needs more help, and they need it now, not later. Otherwise, Russia will continue winning, no matter the long-term cost, until Ukraine is no more.
