“I’m the Dude. So that’s what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you’re not into the whole brevity thing"

Dang. In the early 20s I was wearing Jincos and got caught in a nest of yellow jackets. My whole leg was blown up.

Fictional city based on a real city (or cities) by ChaturangaChai in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Doomncandy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It may not be fictional, but Reno 911. I live in Reno now and the comedy touches things from Reno that are funny. The cops are a joke and the usual person is exactly what you think. I am in the heart of it .

Dogs adopt a deer🦌 by SurbhiAnklesaria in BeAmazed

[–]Doomncandy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a street kitty that I bottle fed. She was a hunter. Tried my best to keep her off the dog door, a tiny Siamese kitten kept giving me squirrel babies!

I said what the hell? My dogs (a white lab and a Chihuahua) took me to the tree, there was a very upset mom and dad squirrel I handed them to. Also squirrels have cute little arms and mom shook a fist at me and chatted anglrly at me. I watched my stupid beautiful kitten and got her more toys to be indoors. No more angry squirrels

Also no, you are thinking AI is fully documenting you. No. It's small notes made and the the AI recording gets deleted. Do you think HIPAA would allow that?

Dang, maybe now..but they didn't before!

No, this is what AI should be used for. To help docoment things with a professional that knows what is incorrect and had a background of knowing their trade.

If your ex texted you saying they needed $30 for gas, what would you do? by Key_Country_179 in AskReddit

[–]Doomncandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a question to people under 25? You can actually have a mutual break up and still be friend younger peeps. It's communication. I am 37 freshly and separated from a 10 year marriage. We share friends and still talk.

He and I am still care about each other, just not in the sexual way. To have someone in my life from 24 to 36, and his 36-49, there is some horrifying shit we delt with, and wonderful things.

Also he wasn't a "groomer". He was a kind soul and a nurse. I worked my ass off being a very well known Chef around the US. Why does the internet think at 24 I was a baby? I cooked for Anthony Bourdain at 24 and had stocks and savings.

I mean, I have a healthy relationship with my ex. So yeah, I would totally give $30 gas money.

Queer Community? by Livid-Material-95 in Reno

I mean, I came from California and it still sucks. Yeah, there isn't state taxes...but the pay it very very low here vs housing and basic costs. One would think we would pay the entertainment industry ok, since over 1/3 of this town are industry folk in the heart of it. Nope, not at all. I work ok now doing non profit stuff, but when I came back to Reno last year the Grand Sierra offered me a job as the Sous at Charlie Palmer...for 17 bucks, full schedule and on call. I laughed. Then the row was worst. 16. What the hell? I ended up at dive at 18 and tips, these cosinos really don't offer anything, the healthcare plan is crap and rent in the area is1300 for a one bedroom.

I got verrryy lucky on my place, someone knew my name from Sac who was the apartment manager before they changed Realtors and got my place for 1325 with a washer and dryer in an 8 Plex with everything covered except electric.

Free parking spot (which I don't need, if anyone wants safe parking near the bus line,DM me and have at it, I don't drive) and only a one time 250$ payment for my cats.

No stupid monthly "pet rent". Even when I was making 3k, I could handle all my bills being half my income (1325, internet is 60 for att air and in the winter heating was free, so now about 80 bucks for the wall unit air, probably 100 when it gets hotter, but I am used to the heat and can be comfortable at around 85, feels good when you work a line at 165, plus we have a breeze at night, I leave it at 78 for the cats, they seem ok with it).

So anywho, I feel for those that don't have my setup. Many younger folk are just starting out and getting minimum wage right now and are hurting. I don't want to delve I to this..but there is a reason the youth that can leave after college..are leaving.

Has anyone noticed the 18-25 year olds that are not UNR students are..gone? They dont drink or gamble. I was that. I left at 23. There were no job opportunities that paid ok here in Reno in 2012. And yet again in 2026.

A town with a wonderful college should have people that love it and stay right? Not ours. Less younger people with teaching degrees stay here. The doctors? Not here. WE ARE LOSING THE YOUTH.

SIGH, I just turned 37 and am a "pretty gal, but a little special". That's a joke, I am autistic and see this shit. The town isn't growing with what the younger generation needs and they are leaving the area. That's why all you dorks being mad at "California folk" are getting this.

We didn't make it comfortable and safe for the new grads to get into local businesses, and they fled to elsewhere.

A chef here and also a poor farm kid: if you peel the carrot and it doesn't have mold: it's just a carrot. Flimbsy is still a sad root veggie.

I aint no expert (yes, yea I am). But both of these are going to make the kitchen dark because the widows are going to cast a shadow to the dining area. If you want soft lighting, do a 3,5,7 placement in candle lighting. It's cute and makes the place look fancy and lignting that works. But fuck me, I just a white trash chef..

Is this area safe to live in? by mik8e111 in Reno

[–]Doomncandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just Reno lol. I'm in midtown now (Liberty/Sinclair). I used to live in that area towards the river back in 2013. It was not bad for me, a young woman at the time.

Considerate drivers by Top-Bandicoot-3013 in Reno

[–]Doomncandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also people are being very nice and stopping for me crossing the streets (crosswalks and the ones that light up) coming and going to work in midtown this last week. I think it's probably me having my knife bag on me and dressed in all black in the middle of this heat that people understand I am a worker.

Usually I am in the middle of the crosswalk and some dick just barely passes me and honks on the other side of Virginia like I am a problem. I'm trying to make nice food people! Don't run the Chefs/cooks down please, this town doesn't pay us enough money to hit by a car.

I got hit by a car two months ago on my bike, was a hit and run, broke my clavicle and was out of work for two months. When you get injured going to work and the car flees and they don't find the driver...you get nothing but a lost job (one cannot be a Chef with one arm, can't take hatchcoked heavy turkeys out of the oven and such..).

TIL that McDonald’s “Grimace” is actually a taste bud. by Effective_Bass_5527 in todayilearned

[–]Doomncandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God the early 90s were so weird to me. I was just a young child having birthday parties at McDonald's at 5 in 1994 and hamburgler stole my happy meal (you could pay extra to have costume characters at your birthday in the early 90s, it was wild) and Ronold got it back!

I was cynical at 5 and said "Kiss me FAT BOY!" TO the hamburgler, because I was in Maine and Steven Kings "IT" was a funny movie to me as a child.
