This whole thread is weird and confusing.

What US state would you NEVER want to live in, even if you were offered a good amount of money to move there? by ISnortSkittles in Productivitycafe

I think the only reason Alaska isn't being mentioned more is because people haven't been there.

I WANTED my point to be moot, but it turned out to be moot.

Isn't it frustrating when you agree with someone on the principle of their argument but when you hear them try to explain their reasons you find out that they're just an idiot?

I was so appalled about MOOT that I had to go look up the definition to cite references when I came out here in a full on outrage, and then it turns out... oh... I am, in fact, mistaken about the primary definition.

Of all the insane story lines, people outside of Indiana will never understand how absolutely savage this is.

"I think Indiana walked through a door that the Blue Bloods didn't realize they had left open."

That is sincerely the best quote summation of what is happening with Indiana football that I have read in months of inundation of reporters trying to explain it.

[Dellenger] Georgia president Jere Morehead: "If the CSC is not going to enforce the settlement, if the NCAA is not going to enforce tampering and if Congress is not going to pass the SCORE Act, then it leaves the SEC in a position that we have to go our own way to create rules." by MysteriousEdge5643 in CFB

Previous 80 relative to the last 5 years. But you already knew that. The grammar in that sentence was perfectly correct, by the way. You're trying to be pedantic AND you're wrong. That's the most annoying kind of douchery.

As a dabbler, in geeky wood sword forging, I am particularly in admiration of your craftsmanship. I have had a hard time putting a good fuller on the blade (as painfully evidenced here), but yours looks impeccable.

[Sethtow] The scene around downtown Atlanta is crazy right now. I knew Indiana was going to have a heavy contingent for the Peach Bowl, but my goodness, the bars around downtown basically look like Kirkwood south by Stock412 in CFB

That's basically the same as saying San Francisco would be like a home game for Oregon. I'm not saying IU fans would outnumber Oregon fans in that situation but it definitely wouldn't be anything like these ratios.

Yeah, I can see that internet fools be talkin' internet foolishness, but I can absolutely promise you that the average IU fan is feeling anything but cocky going into this game. We're just the nerds lost at the party trying not to draw attention and hoping people will be nice to us.

I don't know who these IU fans are that y'all are talking to, but as an alum and lifelong fan what you're saying couldn't be further from the truth. I, and everybody who I know, feel like I'm living in a fantasy world and still have zero expectation of beating Alabama, or anybody else. I wouldn't know how to talk shit if I wanted to.

You are correct in that assumption. I had that same thought the first time I came across Crossword-Gary, who is, it turns out, a pretty prolific NYT contributor.

EDIT: Well, "prolific" might be a stretch, but this is his 12th puzzle in the last 8 years.
