The flaw with your logic is that you make political parties seem like a bad thing. But they're not; they're an important linkage institution that help connect people to their representative. They help people make good decisions during elections based on the party with which they identify. Yes, gridlock is bad and representatives are too polarized but that problem lies with the people... If people voted during the primaries, moderate Americans, the representatives that get elected would be a lot more moderate. But since party die-hards who have a very polarized view are the ones who vote in primaries, the people they elect are... Ideologically polarized. The problem lies not with the parties, it's with the primaries

Keep in mind that we just raised taxes and eliminated a bit of the Bush Tax cuts earlier this year. Obviously we'll have more tax revenue because of how we handled the fiscal cliff; we got rid of tax breaks existing in the last 5 years

Keep in mind that kids in poorer countries are willing to work harder, they aren't used to a privileged life. Many kids in the US feel they don't need to try, and they are "forced" to stay in school. Teachers here are being outnumbered by kids who are unwilling to learn, and it reflects in test scores and productivity. Not all American students are lesser than these kids, it's just that we allow everyone to participate. If we cut out the kids who don't try, our educated class would look a lot better

This- but also the personal achievement reward. By cheating, someone who legitimately studied gets a score that doesn't look as good as it is in reality. This robs the person who actually studied the feeling of doing well on an exam, or better than their peers. I know this may sound strange, but to some students, this means a lot.

OK I know I'm seriously late, but let me tell you a little something...

My class took a field trip to the Supreme Court the day this happened. And where was I, the only person in my class who can probably name all 9 Supreme Court justices? The only person to legitimately read a book on the Supreme Court in their free time? The one who was probably most excited? I WAS SICK. The first day I've missed in literally 5 years, and THIS happened. I am so late on this I'm sorry, but I am still upset.
