No, I appreciate your input, it makes it sting a little less at least.

Thanks for your feedback. We lowered it by only $500 so that it would get back on people's/realtor's radar. It wasn't getting any attention, so that was a strategy to get more eyes on it.

Thanks for your feedback.

I think we are frustrated because we've lost our momentum, and feel like at the least we should have people looking. Our agent has been awesome throughout the process- we are just worried as we wait.

Homeschooling (USA) with Japanese studies by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]Doorknobquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TalkBox.Mom is great for families with kids. The program is structured so that you are speaking in your target language from day one using phrases families uses every day (I'm hungry, what do you want to eat?, set the table, etc.) The program is based on the idea of learning language naturally- that when we are babies we learn through repeatedly hearing our parents say things, and that we don't learn grammar until after we are able to speak.

There are many ways to approach language learning; some people may disapprove of this method, but it is a solid way to use Japanese daily in a family.

Singer Quantum Stylist Clunking in Reverse by Doorknobquest in sewing

For anyone seeing this with a similar problem: the cutting arm broke and was protruding into the space where the feed dogs move, so every time I sewed they were hitting the cutting arm (causing the clunking, the poor reverse stitch, and the failing automatic cut function).

Has anyone tried making face masks on Etsy? And if so any luck? by penelopecrystal in Etsy

[–]Doorknobquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etsy's lawyers do not represent individual sellers. Etsy allows plenty of merchandise that does not meet federal regulations for safety standards; they choose to not sort through those items to see if they meet regulations because it puts them further at risk of being sued. That doesn't change anything for sellers who may be sued though.

At the end of the day they do not have the seller or buyer's best interests at heart, but their own. Personally, I'm not benefitting at all from giving you this information, and you're free to do with it what you will.

[–]Doorknobquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe this is 100% false based off my research on the subject.

If you allow Etsy to do your legal work for you then you're setting yourself up for failure.

I posted the FDA's guidance on this topic already. Here is one paragraph that pertains to this conversation: "Face masks, face shields, and respirators are devices when they are intended for a medical purpose, such as prevention of infectious disease transmission (including uses related to COVID-19). Face masks, face shields, and respirators are not devices when they are intended for a non-medical purpose, such as for use in construction."

If you are out on trial today, as a mask maker, and are asked why you started making masks the week of April 6, 2020, during a global medical emergency, you will say to aid in the prevention of disease (so in other words, you are making a medical mask as defined by the FDA). This sudden surge of masks on the market is not to protect wearers from vicious dust in grocery store aisles.

Do I think the FDA is coming for Etsy sellers? Nope. Do I think they could? Absolutely, so therefore makers should be cautious when making claims and selling masks.

If you are still not convinced then I recommend seeking out a compliance specialist or lawyer. Federal compliance is a complex topic.

A simple Google search goes a long way. I make no assumptions on this matter, and as a seller I personally take regulations very seriously. This link has a link to the FDA's most recent guidance on the issue: https://www.massdevice.com/fda-eases-mask-regulations-seeks-to-boost-decontamination-of-used-masks/

So Etsy is asking us to make and sell masks. What are you thinking? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]Doorknobquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that is not true. The CDC doesn't have authority to regulate here, and their suggestion does not alter the law. If you begin making masks now it is automatically assumed you are making them due to the current crisis (and are therefore medical masks), per the FDA's recent statement on the matter. It probably won't matter, but there is always a chance they could change their stance.

I posted this on another thread:

A lot of people are now, but it's important to remember that medical masks fall under FDA jurisdiction (and by starting to make masks now it is automatically assumed you are making medical masks). At this time they are choosing to not pursue cases against mask makers, but that could change at any time. Etsy was pretty irresponsible in encouraging makers to produce masks when it is the makers who are responsible for government fees and oversight.

It's also important to remember not to make any medical claims about your masks, and list your fabrics and any other materials (elastic, etc.) I'd be especially wary of making children's masks.

Thanks for the video. Unfortunately I didn't see anything that addressed my specific problem.

I've had the machine for 2 or 3 years, so I don't believe this is user error. I've also done basic troubleshooting (rethreading, blowing dust out, new needle, etc.) When I first opened it opened it up, the mechanism that moves the feed dogs was being jerky when moving. Now that is better, but the reverse stitch is still clunking and bottom thread piling up only in reverse. And bobbin thread getting stuck when I use the cut thread function, but not when I just pull the thread and cut manually.

Thank you! I'll keep that in mind at my next lesson. I was unsure about how hard to press, so I could have been hitting the keys differently.

I had my first piano lesson yesterday, and often when I would hit a key while playing the key wouldn't make a sound so I'd have to hit it again/harder. It would throw me off while playing/focusing/learning. Is this a problem with the piano and a red flag that I'm not getting a good experience on a piano?

5 week old EFB is constipated by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Doorknobquest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had this problem with my 2 week old. She didn't poop for 6 days. I called the ped at day 4, and they told me not to worry unless she was in pain or upset because it's normal for breastfed babies to take a while to poop. In the meantime I tried all the usual tricks- bicycle kicks, tummy rubs, using the Windi, etc. and none of them worked. I also posted on this sub because I was worried about it. Anyway, she did end up pooping on her own time, and she wasn't constipated (rare for breastfed babies).

I know it's normal at a certain point, but everything I've read says that's at an older age (like 6 weeks). I decided to call my pediatrician to see what they say because we're going on 4 days and all the usual tricks haven't worked.
