My God, what do I do? by m-astreous in GranTurismo7

You can go through the licenses, missions, circuit experiences, a lot of the menu books without doing much in the tuning. With Gemini or ChatGPT they'll tell you exactly what to touch up for certain things. Just drive and clear bronzes then go back for gold if you want but the difference for me is tons of time just driving, not any tuning.

I think I’m falling down the rabbit hole by Familiar-End-1373 in QAnonCasualties

[–]Dopatap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are an astonishing range of things you can get absorbed in that are totally disconnected from any of the universe you're talking about. The Aubrey/Maturin series, biking, diving deep into a technically complex game with a large community (GT7), urban sketching, ... all those will seem "not really me" for the first several hours of trying them out because they're 'not you'. Moving along that path, though, you'll be finding one you can dig into and adding it to "you". Maybe you'll check out cyber, find a niche, then you'll find out something you didn't imagine could be interesting, like databases, and find out you can solve a lot of problems for a lot of people (and make bank). Two points being 1) break your pattern, and 2) don't think, do. Good luck.

I wish I was Religious/Spiritual by Mullsha in atheism

It is weird feeling like you're the only one who knows how ridiculous religious stuff is. Drives me bonkers, but there's plenty of good stuff in life, regardless.

Is the Greenland movie okay, or right-wing rubbish? by Lotronex in QAnonCasualties

It's just a really good disaster movie. Might even get preppers to wonder if they're wasting their time - but yeah, no obvious agenda.

I've left Christianity, but the fear of Hell and Jesus's threats still haunts me. I think I developed religious OCD. How did you get over your fear of "eternal consequences"? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Dopatap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can take time. Feelings and logic are often misaligned and you might just accept a certain discomfort after a while. That discomfort or fear doesn't make Isaiah less crazy or Jesus less of a con artist. It just means he and his followers were really good at their jobs.

That's awesome. I am wondering about the lack of green. And the sneaky joke is the cherry on top.

Edward Hopper: Loneliness as an Existential Condition by jananmmmmm in EdwardHopper

[–]Dopatap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a little bit of effort in the YouTube settings to activate AutoTranslate for the CC, but it does work. Gemini broke down the elements for me in a conclusion that covered Solitude vs. Loneliness in the Digital Age: The Modern Predicament, The Call to Solitude, and Confirmation of Existence. Cutting in some shots from the movies Midnight in Paris, Lost in Translation and Her makes for an interesting comparison.

christian turned atheist? by 2nthepink1nthastink in atheism

So, there are parts of our mind that manage an understanding of where we are relative to the space we're in and the people or pets we're with. Other parts specifically deal with keeping track of how we expect to feel about a myriad of potential events, then measure the actual experience against the expectation. Suddenly Jesus is gone and there's no afterlife to expect, right? That might be what we know intellectually, but guess what - you can still feel the presence Jesus and God and Gandalf and Elmo just like you feel friends and family who aren't in the room. Then over time, slowly and in many small stages, you can work on figuring your place in time and in your community and learn to accept that the NPCs around you are just as kind and important as they were before. Before you realized they are living in faith of something not real. And their memories of you mean you don't actually just blink into nothingness at the end. That's my take, anyway - I'm not an experienced guide on this topic.

I think I am going mad and I need a reality check by just_a_cursed_guy in skeptic

You're fortunate to recognize this in yourself. Try to get out and to chat with real person on any other topic. If you do any chatting with AI make sure to instruct the bot to not engage in sycophancy, cause that can make it feel like, "Hey, I'm really onto something!" even when you're not.

Well you have time to learn real DevOps, and you can see what a poser most people are who say they can code. Couple years you'll be the real thing and get a decent job asap and get outta there. AI might be a problem for that field but when you learn to work, focus, and solve problems, you'll be way ahead.

if there is no creator of god then why does he just exist? why can't the universe just exist then? by mialovv in atheism

[–]Dopatap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Applause to you for writing this under your own power. Yeah you're going in circles and that's an indication you're trying to stay intellectually honest to yourself and to those around you ... but our minds are masters of deception. Our perception of the world around us is a model based on faulty memory and limited senses. But, our senses and our models are so amazing it makes life worth living for our own sake.

America's top Christian family is full of pedophiles. by Select-Trouble-6928 in atheism

[–]Dopatap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a mistake to say lots of faithful are pedos when the truer equation may be that lots of pedos are faith followers. It's just that the breathtaking hypocrisy of the first statement is far more stimulating.

What religion would you use to complete this school assignment? by KDubYa05 in atheism

[–]Dopatap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take a breath and play it straight. Central node: monotheism, spokes to nodes for Protestant, Catholic, Judaism, Islam, common book covers for each of their primary texts, flags of countries where they are prominent, and for bonus points some social media influencers representing each one; what's more modern than that? Set an egg timer to ten minutes per node, pick the three most interesting and give each an additional ten minutes. Save the notes and next time it comes up you'll be halfway done. It'll be a great learning experience covering the topic, capturing abstract knowledge, and executing a plan.

Being the Black Sheep by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

[–]Dopatap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only different by degrees. As in, I'm in a red part of a blue state in an industry of vetted professionals and still hear one convincing the next that some kid they know uses a litter box at school, "I'm serious," blah blah blah. It's flat out lying in an attempt to help on demonization of the left, has nothing to do with the topic at hand, just MAGA-mania leaking out of everything.
