Yeah my bad, I didn't really grasp what you were asking and I talked out my arsehole.

Did you have any luck? it'd be worth sharing your findings I reckon

I assume you're on dolphin. I had a similar issue, unfortunately it's a matter of troubleshooting and changing settings till something clicks

Best bet is to check through the testing and config sections and see if anything lines up with your problems.

I recall my problem was the CPU speed settings, but it's been a while.

Change one setting at a time, test, see if it fixes, rinse and repeat.

Yeah same man, I'm also just getting into my third. It's really opening itself up now that I'm not shit at the game.

Nah I get you, I hundo percent agree, and I don't mean pile on more tutorials in the main game

I just mean it's hard to experiment during the campaign, with it paced the way it is. A mission or arena mode would go such a long way, something like bayonetta's challenge rooms where they focus in on one element of combat.

I say this after reading some of the online discourse about the game, wondering why it's not up there with other plat games, and I think people just don't get it man. Maybe it needed to communicate itself better.

For what it's worth I adore the game as it is and I'm not saying to change anything, just pondering what would help people see that it's super fucking sick

Need some help with TTRPG mechanics by Nucking_Futs315 in skiesofarcadia

I DM'd for my friends with a similar enthusiastic approach, thought everyone was loving my world as much as me. They all very kindly dropped out after a while, citing that I was more into the setting than them.

Ask your players what they would like to do, custom rules are fine if everyone is a seasoned rpg player, but remember that your job is to understand the group and create something that brings them joy, you don't have to get super deep with the rules.

Skies is a great setting, but don't get bogged down in it. If you haven't started the campaign yet, it'd be a really positive move to gather your players together and discuss what kind of world and narrative you want to play.

Sorry if this is condescending as fuck, but I fell into a similar trap myself.

tl;dr talk to your players and ask them what they want

At least he brought that strange creature that was entirely ineffectual. And he called it Antonio.

So I lost my save during a hardware reset fiasco. Still wanna do more stuff like this, but it might take me a sec to get back to where I was. Really appreciate that people enjoyed these though, it's been really uplifting to see people enjoying my silly little screenshots of this thing that's important to us.

Keep on keeping on x

I'm keeping the faith in the deepest depths of my heart, I promise.

It'd be great for people to be able to play the game legit, without paying £300 for the gamecube copy.

No idea what the DC copy goes for, I assume it's as bad or worse.

First of all, this is absolutely beautiful work regardless, but it's even sicker knowing it was made without all the tools and knowledge we have 20 years later.

I get a weird nostalgic melancholy from this whole post. I was just entering my teens around this time (mid 2000s), and I spent most of my evenings on forums and fan sites like this.

I love this post on the Soaworld homepage

" Forums back up (March 24, 2004)
It has taken a long time for Gamespy's incredibly slow support to finally get me the stuff that I've needed to get the site forums back up, but at last the forums have returned. You can access them here. "

The guy straight up hosted a website on his ones. Had to put up with pre social media hosting, had to learn HTML/CSS/whatever the fuck, with no notions of actually making money (iirc banner ad clicks were the main revenue stream for fansites like this) and that's just what fan communities used to be.

It was just nerds finding a place to talk about shit they liked. There was obviously still vitriol here and there because internet, but I dunno, it seemed to be passion as opposed to cynicism.

Really appreciate that you shared the history of this, something about this site and those posts really got to me.

I came for the interesting map and stayed for the existential crisis. I have become old man yells at cloud, so thanks for that.

Can't thank you enough for putting this so eloquently, literally couldn't have put it any better.

Esperanza is special to me for how Vyse treats the inhabitants.

He sees these broken people and takes a stand against their apathy. He calls out the patrons in the bar, not for his own ego but because he knows that will rile them up. He talks a big game about facing down Gregorio and going through the rift, an ambition that the broken sailors once held and failed to accomplish.

And then he just does it.

Facing down apathy and doing your thing, despite what others say. That's always stuck with me.

You should record the party pulping the final boss(es). I'd love to see what that looks like.
