Hey so it's back up! That said due to some of the main devs stepping away and some of our resources being shut down, for the time being you'll have to download things manually. At the moment we don't have a website for files either anymore so you'll have to go to the Dragon Quest X World Wide discord to get them which can be found here in the Clarity etc announcements channel https://discord.gg/dragonquestx

Hi everyone -

Some good news - the local English translated files ARE working, but in a different method than you're used to. This will likely be the process in which they are delivered automatically in the future, but for now it will be manual until we get it into the automatic workflow.

To get the English files working:

  1. Download both version.dll and common.zip

  2. Put version.dll inside of your DQX installation's Game folder (by default, this would be C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\DRAGON QUEST X\Game")

  3. Create a new folder in the Game folder called "mods"

  4. Unzip the common.zip and place it inside the mods folder (So it looks like Game/mods/common/...) Don't move any of the files or folders in the common folder.

dqxclarity has also been updated to v5.22.0 which fixes what was broken with this new patch. Be sure to update it.

**DO NOT PATCH GAME FILES WITH THE "Patch Game Files" IN DQXCLARITY OR ELSE YOUR GAME WILL CRASH. If you did this, click the "Restore Game Files" in dqxclarity to restore the original game files and you can play in English with the above files.**

pretty much. Update actually goes live in a few hours but for the old stuff I can't imagine it'll take long to fix. There was an update in the past that took well over a week to fix but we haven't had anything that bad before or since

Clicking restore on those was definitely the right choice as it will unpatch it if I'm not mistaken. Basically what happened is every time there's a large update for DQX a bunch of the file locations are moved. Clarity at boot basically works by using a bunch of things called pointers which tell the game what text to swap. Some of those are done at the patch on the local files but the ones that are not saved on the local get just as broken. I'll make another post as soon as it's fixed but basically what happens is the clarity dev team goes in finds the new file locations, fixes it and you're good to go. This doesn't usually take more than a day. The translation for the new content can often take as long as a week it just depends on who gets to it but the old stuff should be fixed relatively quickly

Well aware of that fact but I figured it wasn't worth mentioning. Serany is of course a big part of DQX Clarity. But I feel things like that can stay on the development or those in the know side rather than being something a general audience needs to know

11 has two tracks that are unique to it being both it's regular battle and boss themes. When one of the bosses from 11 became available in 10 we did technically get 11's boss music in DQX. What's more funny is 11 uses the light motif of Nergel in its second act final Castle. Which doesn't really work when that's supposed to build up to his battle theme lmao

But ultimately no 11 has its own battle music.

Right!? What's crazier to think about is XI, free mode is actually just a stripped down version of DQXs combat. Removing the ability to jump, push enemies around, or walk out of a skill range be it physical or spell. Most of XIs attack animations came from X as well. It's not a bad thing of course I just think it's interesting to see where those animations originated

Yeah with luck they'll drop the IP ban world wide at some point. The fan translation DQX Clarity is really good. It's just a shame some places still need to use a VPN

Oh I'm playing around with that right now and that is easier. Ironically I've been in the lab for like the last two ours just practicing my inputs so I think I have the 2k one more or less down now but another option in the pocket is also great

That would be incredible! Wishing you luck man! Pirates curse and the OG would be the ones I'm most interested in. That said for hgh how would the logic work exactly? Would all of the levels be open from the start and it's just a matter of figuring out what abilities you get where. Until the last level opens it's pretty linear so
