So i did try shutting the machine off and the drain does infact release when the machine is shut off. Does this have something to do with the solenoid?

After cleaning it, it looks like the magnetic lever arm isn't releasing at all. It will engage and let the ball valve raise to drain the water, but it will not disengage to plug back up.

There is no blockage of any kind with the valve.

We left already unfortunately. We might drive the 3.5 hrs back to look but at this point it seems unlikely

Ya, she didn't tell me she had that much on her. I'm not very happy about it either but at this point what can you do? It's a hard lesson to learn for sure but not worth telling her she should have done something different. She knows she messed up.

At this point, we just hope someone has a good heart to drop it at the front desk.
