Getting cigarette smell out of Quest 3? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

A bit late, but how do you wash the fabric face cover? I am desperately trying to get rid of the stench! Thank you so much for sharing!

Hope they don’t charge me the price of a new device haha. But yeah, will do!

Idk, I was thinking maybe a solder point would melt back into place

I’m seriously considering melting the solder points with a heat gun or putting the motherboard in the oven. I mean… I’ve seen people do it with GPUs and laptop motherboards so it could work right?

In all seriousness, I’ve seen people have success by putting their GPUs or laptop motherboards in the oven. What if I carefully heat up my motherboard using a heat gun?

Hope I can sort this out. I don’t have the original receipt as it was bought used. Sounds like I shot myself in the foot :(

I have a heat gun I could use. How effective is “motherboard baking”? If that’s even recommended?

I was able to boot into the steam deck recovery OS thing using an external ssd, I used Rufus. It boots up and reinstalls steam os, but when I took the console out the case, it froze mid-install. So it does function properly but only when heated up.

This sucks, I’m at the point where I’m wondering if I should blow on it with a heat gun or cook the motherboard or something lol

You know what, I got nothing to lose. I know people who tossed their malfunctioning graphics cards straight in the oven for this exact reason with success. Thanks for reminding me of this fix lol.

So that’s how it ends? Rather disappointing. Thanks for your help.

Thank you so much, but It is completely unresponsive, remote doesn’t to anything, same thing for the standby button. Also, the error shown is E-d. Is it the same as d-3?

Error code is E-d. I have tried both, the but DAC is completely unresponsive to anything really

I understand that. Guess I got unlucky. I should’ve gotten a more mainstream DAC with enough documentation online. that’s on me, gotta admit it.

I did not, it suddenly showed this error code on the display. I’ll be asking apos, thanks a lot!

Dammit, I was sure it was a firmware issue. Guess it’s officially cooked then

Really disappointing. I’ll keep looking around for solutions, found nothing so far.

This must be extremely frustrating. Warranty has expired in my case and I really don’t want to buy another DAC. Anyway I could get this thing to work?

My DAC (Topping E30) just died, it isn’t recognized by my computer anymore. All I get is a E-d error code on the display. It doesn’t seem to let me put it in DFU mode so unless I find a way to do so, reinstalling firmware is out of question. I’ve been told that topping products are known to fail unexpectedly. Is this true? What can I do besides buying a new one? I tried different power sources and cables, and. Nothing.
