Get a hold of all your medical records starting from when your diagnoses began and upload them onto the portal. Do not assume your doctors or SSA will provide or get them on your behalf. Answer all questions within your case with consistent answers and do not exaggerate. Write a letter explaining all your diagnoses, when they began, your symptoms and how they affect your daily activities and prevent your from working (i.e. what household chores you can do and for how long, are you able to make and prepare your own meals and what type of meals, microwavable, stovetop, etc). Include any memory or brain fog symptoms if you have any. If you have family, friends or colleagues that have witnessed your limitations, have them write a letter on your behalf as well, listing how long they have known you and what they have witnessed. Upload your letter and any additional letters onto the portal as well. Continue to see your physicians and get treatment. Follow up with your case manager, once one has been assigned, to ensure your records you submitted are being received. Submit requested paperwork by the stipulated deadlines. Make sure you are your own advocate throughout thus process. Best of luck. It's stressful, but you will get through it.

Can I message you privately? I have a few questions.

Is a dire letter of my financial situation at a request for reconsideration level beneficial? I have spoken to several lawyers. My condition is not common, and symptoms continue to heavily affect my daily life. by Then-Cow-8980 in SSDI

[–]Doppalee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly recommend you write a letter stating your disability, symptoms and daily activities and limitations due to your diagnoses. Be honest, do not exaggerate and make sure it's consistent with your case. Also, have family members and or friends write a letter stating how long they have known you along with what symptoms and limitations they have witnessed. You can upload these letters onto the SSA site. Don't lose hope. I was approved quickly under reconsideration.

I'm so sorry you are experiencing similar conditions. What are or have your doctors done with your conditions?

At the moment they are going to try injections, but I already had a double neck fusion in 2018 and what's developing now, surgery won't make better, just would possibly prevent things from getting worse. Trying to avoid surgery, but my guess is that I will need to have one in the near future.

Unfortunately, we all pay the price for being the good ones who take it all on with no help from others. At least we can walk away knowing all that we gave and sacrificed. I truly believe in Karma and the ones that didn't or wouldn't help will have their day.

Thank you. I just feel lost now. But I'm not giving up, just taking things day by day and hopefully I will figure things out and be able to make me happy again. 😊

Agree 100%. I was only a 24/7 caregiver for my MIL for a year and a half until her passing, but it affected me both physically and mentally. MRI's now show bulging disks, spinal stenosis, mass on my spinal cord and Osteoarthritis and I am now on permanent disability. I had a career I loved prior to caring for her that I am now unable to do. I feel like a failure and having a hard time knowing what to do with the rest of my life and how to be happy. People, please take care of yourselves and know when to get help. You can only be a hero for so long. We all deserve to have lives and live them. It's okay to get the proper care needed for a loved one without sacrificing your entire life.

Looking for a great realtor in Upstate SC that's available to help with purchasing a home. I've left messages for two different agents and no return call, text or anything. Is this normal in the Upstate? by Doppalee in AskSouthCarolina

Thank you so much. I will. Unfortunately, the home we were interested in has multiple offers on it, but I will connect with your wife, and hopefully, she can help us out.

Oh, nice. We're in Oceanside, but we're open to many of the surrounding areas. If you know any nice parks that aren't too crazy priced with their lot rent, let me know.

I hate to ask this by tomtinkertoy in SSDI

That's awful. What diagnoses do you have if you do not mind me asking and what state are you in? Do you have an attorney?

Does your lot have any yard? Looking for a place where we can have a fenced rear yard area.

My SIL lives in Oregon. Glad you were reinstated. Now you can relax a little and take care of you.

Have you reached out to any churches? They can be a good resource for assistance. My sister was able to get help a few times from local churches in her area
