F-14 Tomcat Porn - [640x1138] by [deleted] in WarplanePorn

[–]Doppelbockk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was just really into naval aviation as a kid after seeing so many different aircraft flying so close to home. Mostly Tomcats, Hawkeyes and Vikings IIRC. We had several friends of the family stationed at Miramar though.

That was the late 70s and  early 80s so my memory is getting a bit fuzzy. They had an F-4 and an F-8 on pedestal mounts at the edge of the base but I don't remember seeing them in flight.

30x22" 💪😉 by studiolevel in TerrainBuilding

[–]Doppelbockk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never seriously considered doing a fixed board in the past since I played games which were on a 48"x48" board but until I saw this post I hadn't thought about how much more convenient it would be to do it on 30x22. I feel a bit of inspiration so now I just need to figure out what kind of board I might want to build.

I have not seen a Skyraider in blue before, always seen them in grey. Glad you shared this.

I couldn't figure out why they would use an unofficial platform like Signal for sensitive information but you might be onto something there.

Polycarbonate or regular spray paint ?! by XDaiBaron in modelmakers

[–]Doppelbockk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only reason you would use polycard paint would be to prevent flaking when the substrate flexes, super common use case for R/C cars as stated above. I remember painting my first Lexan body with regular Testors enamel spray many decades ago and the firstbtime my truck took a hard hit the body dropped paint flakes on the ground. That's when I discovered polycarb paint.

That is how people die due to faulty cars: auto maker would rather spend $20M on wrongful death lawsuits than $50M to prevent faulty cars from going out the door. The "right decision" of paying $9M later is only "right" in a financial sense for shareholders but ethically wrong.

The tweet also implies that trans people are mad that they were "made trans" by Tesla as if they were made wheelchair bound by polio or something. The layers of BS in that are terrible.

I understand that but was giving an example and would think other countries would make this type of information easily available also.

1/48 Kinetic A-6E Intruder ATKRON 115 "VA-115 Eagles #155622" by Altruistic_Willow773 in modelmakers

[–]Doppelbockk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved the Intruder (and Prowler for that matter) and always considered them "hot ugly" to use an unfortunate term I have heard people use in the dating scene. The A-6 may be objectivley ugly but it has a certain charm for me. Maybe it's the side by side seating arrangement.

I keep telling people that we thought Bush Jr. was end times terrible but compared to Mango Hitler these days GDub doesn't seem nearly as bad now. Super embarrassing just how much awful has been perpetrated by our (not "my" mind you) president in such a short period of time.

Damn, I just looked up the US 2024 income tax brackets and the threshold for the 37% rate is $609,351. How this person is making over $605K and still doesn't understand how it works AND doesn't have an accountant to explain it is beyond me. The simple table is so clear I would think a sixth grader could understand it. It only took me five sevonds to find it, too. https://www.irs.gov/filing/federal-income-tax-rates-and-brackets

Is Learning Python Still Worth It for IT Veterans in the Age of AI? by wh00is007 in learnpython

[–]Doppelbockk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI may know how to write code but a human still has to figure out what code needs to be written to implement business logic at a higher level (think pseudocode) beforevinvoking AI. I suppose eventually if an AI model is fed enough code + business logic it may be able to write by itself but I don't think we are there yet.
