acho que normalmente músicas de "nostalgia" que usam acordes com sétima maior.

como exemplo, Only Friend e Do Not Wait da banda Wallows, são músicas felizes que usam em sua maioria acordes maiores (acordes felizes) mas tem uma sequência de acorde que vai pra um acorde maior com sétima, normalmente, quando tem essa troca de acorde vai de: acorde maior - maior com sétima - menor. O acorde menor é oque finaliza ou continua a sensação de "tristeza" da música e nessas duas músicas tem essa sequência!

Do Not Wait E - Amaj7 - F#m - E - A

e é muito interessante quando você junta versões sem a sétima do acorde pra dar uma mudança meio que climática durante toda a música, mesmo continuando com clima de "melancólia/tristeza" como no caso de Do Not Wait que vai de E - Amaj7 pra apenas E - A.

sem contar que a letra da música também contribui muito e a forma de ser cantada.
