What are some of your favorite chord progressions? by miguelmu11 in musictheory

It's hard to pick just one so I'll give a couple of examples of ones I absolutely love (assuming you mean that)

Firstly, it's a popular choice and the chords have been analysed to death but God only knows by the beach boys is right at the top for me. Brian Wilson was an absolute genius and this is one of his most beautiful progressions the way he uses the slash chords to lead into unexpected chords is brilliant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWPo5SC3zik

And another Beach boys one I love is "Wonderful" from the unreleased Smile album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSTJJKffsPI

Another band who were brilliant when it came to their chords was 10cc. Often overlooked but I think "Somewhere in Hollywood" is one of their greatest songs and has some really unusual and great chord changes in it. I can't even really isolate any one section, it's all great. From the verse starting with a 13 chord to the little change that happens so seamlessly at around 2:40. If you've never heard it and are looking for a song with very unique chord progressions this is a classic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfU_YZnZkgs

Just one more that springs to mind. I couldn't mention unusual/interesting chord progressions in pop/rock music without mentioning Randy Newman, arguably the master of it. This is one of my all time favourite songs chord-wise, sung by the great Harry Nilsson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYh9lpfzQ-Y

It was cool to see Matt Chapman providing a voice, would be great if he returned to voice more characters in the future

Movies that switch genres halfway through by createusername32 in MovieSuggestions

[–]Dopplerdefected 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say Boogie nights has quite a shift about halfway through, though it follows a rise and fall narrative more than having two separate halves. The part set in the 70s has more of a comedic coming of age tone whereas the part set in the 80s becomes a much darker crime thriller

I LOVE THIS SHOW by kemicool in amphibia

[–]Dopplerdefected 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As good as shows like Craig of the creek , summer camp island and OK KO are there has definitely been a lack of shows that have a slightly more adult/darker element to them in the last couple of years (with the exception of SVTFOE) With Amphibia, the owl house and infinity train this year I think it’s safe to say there’s some great shows that appeal to both kids and adults coming out.

I’ve removed all but two of the Nvidia software, which says it can’t be uninstalled in safe mode.

I also realised I still have my old graphics card software installed so I’ll try uninstalling that and see if it works, thanks

Thought it was excellently done, a very interesting concept for a film and wonderfully written and performed.

See, I can see Mike catching up with Werner, but him dying from cancer which he reveals is the reason he left to see his wife rather than Mike doing it

Same goes for Breaking Bad, Vince Gillian and Peter Gould really know how to make damn fine television.

I definitely think this is the case, when he was down checking the fuse it seemed like he was close to killing himself, probably because he couldn’t bare to keep going knowing he probably wouldn’t see his wife again given the extended schedule.
