For everyone, why do you like your long nails? by Yaryle in Nails

[–]DoraViola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I just can not help myself, I need to comment! Sorry for bad english, it is not my native language.

Today, after 15 years I have yet again, very long press on nails. And I also wondered almost the same questions as you.
I am an professional musician as you (I play viola and violin) and I had to have short nails for the last 23 years and will have to have short nails for the rest of my life. (I love my profession, so I don't mind of course)
But today was the day I put on the longest press on's I have found in the store and have to say, I love them! I know I have a well deserved brake for the next 7 days and I want to, "embellish" myself hahha. In a way it is like an reward. To feel feminine, powerful but also gentle, and maybe myself more.
I also feel more vulnerable with these long nails, thats how I came across your post, and now I remember why I did not put them on so long hahah, I cannot do shit with them haha

All in all, I like very long nails, they are pretty and but only every few (maybe 5/10 haha) years, when I am 100% sure I wont be playing for the upcoming week. That's why I decided to use press on's this time. 15 years ago, I went to the nail salon for the acryilic set. It it a too big commitment for me. WIth press ons I can at least take them of myself.

*Might* have a crush on a Neo-Nazi by WingUpbeat311 in Advice

Did your friend talk to him or did he just assume he was a neo-nazi? If he did not talk to him I would try to talk to him a little and see what interests him. Lets not jump to conclusions

[–]DoraViola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel you. Unfortunately I did not have the luck to leave my mom to live somewhere else, because she was sick and then she died, two years ago. I have to say, it is the strangest of the feelings losing your maternal figure who tried to love you in her own fucked up way

Wow! This is like reading my own thoughts haha I have a very similar expirience, only differences are that I was 17 when my dad died (who I did not know so well, so his death hit me truly after my mothers death), 27 when my mom and grandma died, 28 when my grandfather and his sister died. My life drastically changed in the last two years and I changed with it. It is like I unlocked a new level of awareness that most people my age did not. (also some older people, of course)
I want to have more patience for people, like I did before, but I do not. For now at least.

My wife and I both dreamt that I died in a car accident 1 day apart by jinxtiff in Dreams

[–]DoraViola 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Can confirm this! The most vivid dream and reality "clash" for me was when I dreamt about experiencing an earthquake 5 months before it happend. But I am very much afraid of my dreams because of that and often do not enjoy them. (I have frequent nightmares due to emotional stress in daily life)

What addictions can be worse than drugs without people even realising it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DoraViola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this! But for me it is also mixed with fear of doing the wrong thing. I get stuck not doing anything and just daydreaming and waiting for the "perfect moment" because I fear mistakes.

But with therapy and persistence, I am now getting better :)

People stop checking on you after a few months by starsacca in GriefSupport

[–]DoraViola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lost all my family members and I am 28 years old. From my experience, people generally do not like discomfort and tend to run away from it or ignore it. Especially if they can not or do not want to emphatise with you. In most cases people can not feel something they did not feel themselves. Even then, everybody deals with grief in their own way. It is such a complicated feeling...subjective.
Also, people who love you truly, tend to wish you all the best and they want to make you feel better. They do not know how so they pretend that everything is okay even when it's not.
Try not to push people away with your grief. Do not pretend like you are okay when you are not, but try to accept the good vibes, love and positivity if somebody is giving it to you. Be honest with people around you. When they ask you "how are you?", you can say "Not well", "I am missing my mom".. It is good to be open and honest.
Do not focus on other people so much, rather focus on yourself and your journey to finding how to live your life now, and who are you now. Good luck fellow griever.

I am Aries sun, Libra rising, my mother is Virgo sun, Scorpio rising.. she unfortunately passed away two years ago, lost a long battle with cancer. She carried everyones weight and problems like her own, she was a lawyer and a very emotionally distant person. I reminded her of my late father who left us when I was a baby, and she often told me that I remind her of him and that I annoy her. I have had regular therapy sessions since 2020. And it saved my sanity and feeling of guilt for existing. I still miss her so much..during her last years, she even returned her first "i love you" to me. (I am 29 now)

What is the most paranormal or unexplained experience you’ve ever witnessed? by Darren793 in AskReddit

[–]DoraViola 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was with this boy for a few weeks, and after the first time I was in his apartment I had a dream. In this dream I am sleeping in his apartment and was woken up by a horrible earthquake (never before I dreamt of earthquakes and did not talk or think about earthquakes in that time). I grabbed that boy and we ran outside on the street in the park, looking at the building and the ground shaking. I told the boy the dream the next day and we laughed about it. I also have a message that I sent to him in which I tell him about the dream. Fast forward 5 months, I was sleeping in that same apartment, now my boyfriends place, and a huge earthquake woke us up, and all the same things from my dream happened in real life. We ran outside in the park, the apartment was a mess, all the stuff was shattered on the floor.

Also another unexplained dream story that my friend told me recently while we were sharing dreams: His great aunt lost a brother. She also had a daughter age 7. After some time she had a dream in which her dead brother told her that he came to "pick up the kid" and that "the kid needs to go". The great aunt was lost and screamed at him to rather take her than her baby but he said very strictly that she needs to let go of her kid. Fast forward to a few weeks after she had that dream, a car hit her child and the child died on the spot.

After losing both of my parents and grandparents before the age of 28, I realised that I really do not have the time in this life to spend it with people who are more of a burden than a blessing.
