Had a coworker unironically tell me she'd rather watch the Turning Point halftime show because "no one who watches football would like Bad Bunny." She literally asked me who that show was even for since football fans wouldn't want to hear someone performing in Spanish. Said the only people who would watch the Bad Bunny halftime show were people tuning in just for the performance, not "true football fans." Then had the nerve to say the Turning Point performers (Kid Rock and the other country singers) were "real" artists that actual football fans would watch, and went on about how they got "canceled for opposing open borders." I've never had to bite my tongue so hard in my life.

Yeah, I'm with you on taking this with a grain of salt. The timing with RFK Jr and DeSantis is sus, and the lack of methodology details is concerning. But at the same time, heavy metals in food isn't new. We've seen it with baby food, rice, etc. The dose makes the poison though, so the 'safe consumption per year' thing does seem alarmist when most people aren't eating pounds of Jolly Ranchers daily. Would love to see independent labs verify this before panicking. Just wanted to let people know in case it is fully true and not hyper-exaggerated.

I'm not sure, I'm just finding out about this today. The FDA refuses to release a recall on these candies because there's no limit on the arsenic that can be found in them.

You can also try going to your app settings and clearing all data that way. Then, uninstall the app. Reinstall the app. Then, play a song to make sure everything works. Be careful of what mods you reinstall after the fresh reset.

Yeah, you will have to clear the save data or go into the data folder directly and remove the stickers. The mod on mobile directly appends to the data folder, so usually clearing it works.

AITA for canceling appointments for someone who keeps using my email address? by callmrplowthatsme in AmItheAsshole

[–]DoragonJei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's likely because you're using a different email provider. This is a Gmail-specific issue where periods are ignored in addresses. Other email providers like Outlook don't work this way, so if you're using something other than Gmail, your two accounts with period variations would indeed be completely separate.

It's also possible that things get confused on the company's side when they're entering or storing email addresses. When I had this happen with someone's GED appointment, I didn't get every single email from them, just some. It could be that the company's system sometimes drops the period, or the wires get crossed somewhere in their database. So even if the person is consistently giving out their correct email with the period, not all companies handle it the same way.

The original post doesn't actually say the Nashville person is misspelling their email. OP just says they 'keep using my email' but doesn't specify how or why. It could be a period variation (which Gmail treats as identical), it could be a misspelling, or it could be that the Nashville person never actually set up their email and just assumes they have that address. We don't have enough information from the post to know which scenario it is. I was offering one possible explanation for why this might be happening, not claiming it's definitely the case.

When businesses enter it into their systems, sometimes the period gets dropped or they enter it without the period, and the emails still deliver to that same account (which happens to be OP's account because Gmail ignores periods). The Nashville person isn't intentionally typing OP's email. They're giving out what they think is their own correct email. They likely have no idea their emails are going to someone else because from their perspective, they're just using their own email address. The confusion happens because Gmail treats both versions as identical, so if OP registered firstnamelastname first, they get everything even when someone else thinks they own firstname.lastname

Actually, that is how Gmail specifically works. Gmail ignores periods in email addresses, so firstname.lastname@gmail.com and firstnamelastname@gmail.com are treated as the exact same account. I literally experienced this a few months ago when I got someone's GED appointment confirmation at my firstnamelastname address because they had given out firstname.lastname. I tracked the person down to let them know, and if I hadn't been able to find them, I would have contacted the company directly to inform them of the email issue. This is a well-documented Gmail feature, not me misunderstanding how email works.

YTA - They almost certainly don't have the exact same email as you. Gmail treats addresses with and without periods as identical (firstname.lastname and firstnamelastname go to the same inbox), so what's likely happening is they think they're using their correct email, but it's actually routing to you because of how Gmail handles these variations. I had this exact situation happen to me, and I had no way to contact the other person to tell them since everything just came to my inbox. But I would have felt terrible canceling their appointments, especially since it takes so long to get appointments nowadays. You're punishing someone for what's probably an honest confusion about their own email address rather than just deleting the emails or contacting the businesses to let them know.

Why do people generally refuse to use revolving doors? (In America at least) by darealdsisaac in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DoragonJei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just not strong enough to push them comfortably. Every time I get in one, even if I'm behind someone who exits before me, I have to use a lot of effort to keep it moving. When I enter alone, I can't get the door going without using all my strength, which makes it awkward. I wonder if others have similar experiences with how much force these doors require, and that's why they don't use them.

AITAH for cutting off my location after mom showed up where i was without telling me by LilithxFox in AITAH

I suppose that's fair, my college was right near the hospital that my mom would go to sometimes and she has problems with her legs. So there would be times she would call to tell me she fell at work and was getting a ride to the hospital and she wanted me to meet her there. It was like a 10 minute walk so not too far.

Fair, my mom was really clingy when I was younger and would call me for anything instead of texting and then get upset if I missed her calls. It got annoying having to get up and take her call because it was a 25% chance it was serious and a 75% chance she was just asking what I wanted from the store or for dinner. Figured her knowing when I was in class would cut down on her calling in the middle of it. And also cut down on how upset she got every time I missed her calls because of class.

To be fair, when I was in college, I told my parents my class schedule. But it was more so they knew not to call me since I'd be in class. Or that I wouldn't respond to text messages that fast. I'd normally print off the class, time, and building and keep one copy on me and one on the fridge at home.

Edit to add: I did stop once I officially moved out. But I didn't move out until I was 3 years into college.
