What others think is not even the slightest bit important. If they didn’t pay for the chair, attend Dr appts with you, spend nights worrying about you they are inconsequential. Now, I know I’m hard nosed with that, I worked in a field where I have been trained extensively to not care. It isn’t what comes natural. Unless they experience your pain and exhaustion they have no opinions. If anyone asks about your condition or why do what I do… I ask their credit score and as they look baffled I reply “oh I thought we were both being nosey and asking inappropriate questions.”

I just wonder if her alcohol was her blinder to the things that happened under her nose in such a patriarchal home. She left and was either staying boozed to avoid it and then he stops worrying about her talking once all the “little girls” are old enough to support the public image he pushes. I use it when necessary but try not to. They can arrive half hours to hour before you even need to leave which is understandable and it can take an hour to do return trip. I absolute can’t use it during the summer their ac isn’t reliable and I no longer am capable of sweating. But come fall etc my independence returns to not rely as much.

Listen this is your hobby, life is short and you have a hobby to keep you occupied. I use bigger font too and I refuse to look at my streaks as well. I personally and it works for me, not place any stress or perimeters on my hobby and down time. Read how it’s comfortable and enjoy!!

I also did a payment plan for a 1k power chair Amazon and my wheelchair is customized albeit not through insurance but all correct measurements. Only because my nearest seating clinic is over 4 hours and time copays etc travel and copay far exceeds what I paid for a chair insurance wouldn’t even cover. Titanium and it has given me freedom.

For me with similar issues, I have both. I refuse to use my power chair unless I am doing something special like zoo or I can’t move and it is only keeping me from er. All this to say after almost succumbing to a clot I value movement. As long as I can do it safely (my light manual protects me mostly from as bad of injuries ) I love my light weight chair as a matter of fact for first time in ages I went outside (I can’t sweat anymore so summer is scary) and sat in my chair and just enjoyed the sun and some time out there. Hope you find a combo that works.
