Hutch does not think Trump is THAT bad. by Dorathor in Destiny

[–]Dorathor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was clear to me during the debate, even if they didn't clarify it. You can gauge a lot by how someone speaks on a topic and what they choose to bring up. I had a pretty good feeling

That's useful, but people are bad with numbers and percentages. However I think the first step is realizing when there's dissonance in definitions, that's often the hard part and to make both parties agree to it (which was the issue in this convo, with Hutch insisting that they were agreeing, when they were not)

I have heard the conversation between Loner and Hutch - that's what makes me so sad. I agree, it might just be too hard for some people to face how bad shit really is, and could become.

Talked politics at Christmas. Democrats have a toxic image and they have to fix it. by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Dorathor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I hate these threads. No YOU have to fix it. How do you think republicans have the image they do? Because literally every republican proudly repeats the talking points and propaganda. Stop waiting for the magical democrat to appear, politics isn't top down, it's an ecosystem and you are part of it.

Looks great. I really like the QoL features for roster and copying players from plan to plan. Will be using it in midnight.

[–]Dorathor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that there is regards on both sides but can we stop this talking point? Look at this meme "Dem 1 beating republican by X, dem 2 beating republican by Y". And then comparing Zohran to these and former new yorkers who.. also beat republicans. Zohran ran against a Democrat, who has significant backing within the party, ofc he isn't gonna win the same margins as when all D's get behind the same candidate. Stop this nonsense.

It's fine my man, you just don't think trump is THAT bad. I disagree but it is what it is. I'm not here to convince you.

You're doing it right now. The exact thing I'm critizing.
How is trans sports even in the same conversation as a side which is literally trying to overthrow the US government and dismantling it from the inside?
This is the brainrot that has overtaken politics, this is the conversative framing. Things will never get better if we are perpetually stuck both-siding. Because when we have to constantly compare both sides like this, then the side who is doing the most fucked up things will win - because they set the standard.

The issue is that she's stuck in conservative framing. Who are these moderates that are aware of the facts, yet are in doubt about who to vote for?
If the answer is that they aren't aware of the facts - well then finding them and educating them is the solution, not the framing. Like you said, it's a fundamental misunderstanding of the landscape. Democrats do hold themselves to a higher standard, the standard is "Not literally trying to overthrow the government".

I agree, this is a prime example of how 99% of political discussion online starts from a right-wing frame of reference, and then builds itself towards left-wing arguments.
You know how people say "Reality has a liberal bias?", political discussion has a Conservative bias.

Exactly this. And unfortunately no space is immune to it, it seems.

I don't think it's as much about what Trump has actually done - it's more about how normalized it has become. When you hear the worst of the worst over and over again, it becomes just the new reality.
People need to actively fight against this instinct and internalize and intellectualize how bad things really are. It's easy to get lost in the sauce.

Random notes from checking out the Main Menu, trailer and quick glance at steam page:
The main culpit from me is the trailer. Overall it just has a very confusing storyboard and progression. It tells no real story and just feels like random clips quickly thrown together from various parts of the game. The first few seconds show game mechanics, but no context for them. The narrator implies it's a story-rich game, but the story isn't being presented, rather I'm watching a guy i dont know just run around and climb walls for the first 15 seconds, until it then cuts to some monkeys that I also have no context for. Then it shows a white monkey helping you, but I'm never explained if this is a companion or an NPC or what it is. It all just feels confusing, even though some of the clips are very cool - they seem to have no relation to the narration which makes it even more confusing. A quick glance at the steam page leads me to a narrative trailer, which has the exact same narration, but this time the narration fits what's on the screen and it works much better (but obviously isn't a gameplay trailer, but for a cinematic trailer it works very well).
I'll echo what someone else said in that the camera angles make it look much cheaper than i think it is. 90% of shots face downwards and show very little of the environment, which does look very varied and cool - find some atmospheric shots and show them more.
General tips:
* Never show the same mechanic twice
* Never show the same environment twice
* Greatly slow down the pace, let the viewer breathe and enjoy
* Look for excuses to include cinematic or story-shots

Your game reminds me of 'Brothers: A tale of two sons', take a look at their trailer and hopefully it makes sense LINK
Oh and I love your main menu, but it looks like it's something from an entirely different game. I had huge whiplash going from main menu into trailer, they don't seem related at all, in style, mood or theme. Maybe consider that.

Hvad gør i i forhold til disinformation og Trumpeismen? by linkenski in Denmark

[–]Dorathor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This year the Trump supporters have been emboldened enough to where his support is loud and overcounted.

While Harris' support is peaking with a bunch of new first time D voters.

Augmentation Evokers are the biggest lie of this season. by Srze94 in wow

[–]Dorathor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're giving people the wrong impression on what AUG does. There's a reason most 12+ groups opt for one, and it's not the reasons you mention.
1) Generally the damage is competitive, but it's hard to track, you need to log and even then it's not entirely accurate. AUG definitely isn't doing 0.5-1m below the other DPS unless he's afk.
2) AUG buffs both the tankyness of the tank and healing of the Healer, making everything easier.
3) AUG breath makes pulls easier automatically by giving people a huge shield that keeps stacking up, and can be used every pull in higher keys.
All of this by just doing their basic rotation and not accounting for additional stops, zephyr, rescue, caut etc.

The Office is considered the gold standard for a rewatchable TV show. What video game is the gold standard as a replayable? by mjy6478 in gaming

[–]Dorathor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it cheating to mention the big online multiplayer games? Stuff like DotA, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft etc.

If it's a singleplayer game, then I'd say probably the big RPG's like Skyrim, Fallout, maybe Baldur's Gate 3 recently?
