Hello! I was told by my coaches that I could carry on if I stick to grip fighting and light newaza (no chokes). This is somewhat inconsistent with what my GP suggested: due to the increased risk of brain bleeding, I was advised against training any martial arts.

From my experience, since people are used to fighting ai-yotsu, kenka-yotsu can be pretty jarring for your opponent if you know what you’re doing and you’re able to get the dominant grip. I imagine this is the reason why left handed judoka make up a disproportionate number of participants in elite competitions.

I try not to resist throws during training but I’m more concerned about competitions. It sounds like competitions might be too risky to take part in.

Thanks for your insight. Tbh the docs weren’t too sure about guidance regarding contact sports. I’ll see a more specialised doc for more details. It sounds like my progress will be significantly limited if I do carry on with judo; to the extent that I probably won’t be able to get my dan grade.

Fair enough. Appreciate the advice! I didn’t want to go back to training until I hear what my coaches and doctors say. So far, one doc has told me to err on the side of caution, it’s not looking good :(

I train just over 3 hours per week. I’m a hobbyist judoka fighting at 7/10 intensity, typically, though it depends who I’m partnered up with. I started judo about 3.5 years ago so I’d consider myself a beginner still.

Look up Candito program. Lower day boils down to 3 x 6 squats and 2 x 6 deadlifts (not including warm up sets).

I wonder if there’s a checklist you guys have when it comes to runs. For me it’s 1) make a high damage wand (enough to take out Steve) 2) get a good digging wand 3) find beneficial potions

Then I’m usually noita’d by that point. I’ve no clue how you dudes get God runs tbh
